My thoughts
1) Onana was so awful its unbeleivable, surely no one still thinks hes "perfect fine for our ambitions this season", as was stated on the main Man u thread. Beat at his near post when only a yard or 2 away from it, flapped like a seagull with a broken wing for the 2nd, his limp wrists couldn't hold out at least 3 of the penalities he got hands to, found touch several times straight from the kick-off, he is the worst 1st choice keeper utd have ever had. and the 2nd choice keeper is the worsts 2nd choice we've had. A KEEPER IS THE SINGLE BIGGEST PRIORITY. With no change we are going to be exposed every...single...game. That league 2 keeper put him to shame.
2)Dorgu, had a real stinker, was nowhere.
3)Fredricson...seemed completely out of his depth...and thats playing against a league 2 side, righty taken off at half time. With now being out of the league cup, we won't be seeing him again anytime soon unless utd get half a dozen injuries at the back.
4)Sesko, I don't care if he hasn't trained much, isn't match fit or whatever, when your flagship striker signing of the summer hides away from the penalities until he absolutely HAS to take one, it shows his character. What happened to strikers inherent desire to put the ball in the back of the net. This was one of the most worrying things I saw all night.
5)Amad, almost totally failed to take on his league 2 defender all night. Poor performance from someone I like
6) in a sea of dire performances I actually thought Mainoo was "ok"
7) There is no excuse for this totally failed team performance. Utd should be beating Grimsby playing 1-1-2-3-3 with any utd player playing any position. Hard to relate this performance to the Arsenal performance, those utd players need to wake up and realise what the fans know, you currently are NOT a big team, and this only being UP for a big game doesn't wash.
8)Amorim, his sitting in the dug-out during the penalites is being over played. He was sitting there because he already knew, win or lose the penalities, the performance had been an abject failure, a total collapse, potentially "winning"the penalities meant nothing to him, and he was right. By the time we'd gotten to the penalities, there isn't a utd supporter that wasn't reeling with how abysmal the level of the performance was, try to imagine the manager's thoughts. Playing with the subbuteo board did look pretty bad.
We started extremely well against Arsenal, I think that game gave everyone some justifible hope that there was a drive and competitivness in the UTD ranks again, Fulham for a while looked like we were going to overrun them, and then that game went downhill. And then....this.
We are still in August, and fans aren't looking forward to games again.
