Usual commute to work..

Maybe I need to buy a bike that is eye searingly bright green and wear a bright green helmet and jacket so people can see me?
Yes, I need a new cam, and yes, I'm sure I'll get grief for the vid.

No grief here, just a normal day on the UK roads now, standard of driving is so bad  I get so stressed on the roads these days I have to remind myself 50% of the population have below average intelligence :p

And 100% actually are out to kill you.

There was more to my ride home that I didn’t show, which ended up with a woman pulling straight out in front of me, and then started screaming at me like it was my fault.
The fact her front windows were so blacked out I doubt she’d see anything through them, in fact I wonder if she’s noticed her drivers mirror is hanging off now

"The Triumph Rocket 3's 2,500cc engine is the largest production motorcycle engine with a kickstart option, although kickstart availability varies by specific model and region. For single-cylinder engines, custom builds like the NSU Bison 2000 have reached significant displacement (2,000cc) with a kickstart, but these are not production motorcycles"

:D

Ey?

Fairly sure that no Rocket 3 variant had a kick start as an option...

When I was a wee lad a mate of mine's dad used to specialize in Yamaha Thumpers, the XT500 and 600s. We were at a braai at theirs one day (I must've been 12 at the time) and this dad, after a few beers, challenged us to try and kick start an XT600 he was working on. We both failed spectacularly, even with all our weight we couldn't even get the engine to turn over, when this dad's brother, beer in hand, comes up and says "here, i'll do it".

Two minutes later half the family is in the back of an ambulance with this dude's shin bone sticking through his skin on the way to hospital.

It was quite traumatic for us as kids, but we get a nice chuckle out of it now.

I also have no clue how we've ended up talking about kickstarting huge engined bikes.

Worth getting one of these? Varients

Soooo... I'm off camping for the night tomorrow :)

Not done this before on the bike so only travelling out a couple of hours away to set up camp. Then maybe head to the beach about another hour away then back "home" for the evening for some food and sleep. Pack up Saturday morning and head home. Get a little bit of "me" time and away from the chaos of children and dogs at home :D

If all goes well I'll be doing more days away.

This is just my test loadup so straps are still loose.

A lot had compression release valves to make it slightly less bone crunchingly scary.

Yeah, he didn't "think" to tell us about this :p

Loads of the mopeds in our circle of friends in Holland had compression release levers on them. Keep in mind that these were sold with pedals, so to start them you simply squeezed the lever, pedalled a meter or two, let go and they'd fire right up. Of course pedals weren't cool so they were the first thing to go, which meant running. Which was great when the bikes were new and fresh, not so when they had 70cc kits, poorly tuned carbs, and the drive pulleys were swapped out for more top end. I must've run the circumference of the earth a few times trying to get those absolute bastarts to start. Good times.

Mopeds like this:

And loads more.
