I've been trying to complete these BF2042 missions, something to tide me over till BF6. Came across a number of suspect players, but it's not too bad

I tried! I really did, it's even still installed this time. I just can't bring myself to play it. There is just no connection with it, no soul, no character. It's about as generic feeling shooter as it gets. No real feeling of team play, just hordes running round headless. Gunplay feels hollow and unrewarding.I tried for a couple of hours but i think I’d rather talk to the wife
For me that last few of words sums up the game as a whole really. How did they get it so wrong with this one? I never really got on with BF1 but I can appreciate it was half decent. BF5 I didn't bother with as it was just so far from the mark I didn't want to touch it.
But BF2042 should have in theory been my kinda game. NOPE!!!

Because it was intended first to be some free to play type of game, midway through development EA changed their minds and it was rejigged into a half assed battlefield game. There's an entire video on it on YouTube and it goes indepth about what they reckon happened behind the scenes and it fits in pretty well with the turd that ea pushed out.
not a fan of it, but not too bad
first was going to suggest looking for (second hand) 7800XT or 7900XT. Faster, but no nice upscaling
second 9070 if budget can handle it, but then the CPU will probably be bottleneck anyway
But definitely stick with AMD. Nvidia adds too much load on CPU, really shows up on BF6
Still missing the beta and they drop that!
Comes to something in PC gaming trailers when the number of options there are in the menus is worthy enough to be a trailer feature
Borderlands 4 will probably release a trailer now with OVER 16 MILLION COLOURS ! and BRIGHTNESS AND CONTRAST SLIDERS !! feature banners in it

This article shows an image of the work in progress Portal server browser and apparently Battlefield devs have announced that the servers created in Portal will be persistent.
Some good news but still don't get why they don't just implement the browser for the main game also.

Just gaming in general was better back then. We get mostly dumbed down slop nowadays. Felt like devs gave gamers a bit of credit but now we all treated like idiots to appeal to the masses
Its once money gets involved, SO much more dosh can be gained by appealing to the masses. UO and Daoc were far far better MMOs but then WoW came along and made 100x as much money than them by appealing to the masses. Its not just games either, you see it in movies, where a superhero movie or a fast and furious film will annihilate far better movies at the box office because they appeal more to the masses. The best things do tend to be niche but the good ones are still out there if you look for them, your Abiotic Factors, your Disco Elysiums, your Satisfactorys, your Oxygen Not Includeds and your Dave the Divers.Just gaming in general was better back then.
