As per my other thread, Curry's have been unable to repair my TV after a discoloured patch appeared, so they're sending me a voucher.

The TV in question was a Hisense U7QFT, so far from top end, but not bargain basement either - looking for something similar (or of course better), ideally 65" but would potentially consider smaller if this allowed for a significant improvement in quality.

Guessing a mid-range mini-LED is going to be the closest equivalent; I'd love an OLED, but I think budget is going to rule that out, along with concerns about the kids (and other half) leaving things paused for hours on end.

Budget isn't quite set yet*, but let's say around £800-£1,200 as a starting point.

Usage is quite mixed, mostly TV series, and the odd film, gaming on Switch and I also have my Steam Deck & Nvidia shield hooked up to it for streaming from my PC. Current one is 60Hz, but obviously higher is better.

Absolutely not Samsung please.

* they haven't confirmed the voucher amount yet, but I'm hoping it's for close to the full £700 I originally paid

I can see that Panasonic do OLEDs for what seems to be suspiciously cheap...

What's the catch?

There's also a "trade in any TV for £100 off", so I could pick up the cheapest thing from FB marketplace for £20 and get a further £80 off :p

No idea about current Pana's probably Vestel bags of poop.

If you had this 6 days ago you could have had an LG OLED65B4ELA 65” OLED for £799.98 from LG/Currys price match, they might cme back into stock at that price, depends how desperate you are for A TV, they were even cheaper than that a month ago.

Not even listed on Curry's site, so I suspect they no longer have them - that's last year's model isn't it?

LG QNED86 65" QNED evo AI 4K HDR Smart TV 2025 - 65QNED86A6A £1,099

It says Freesat, but I think it has a standard tuner as well, but check.

That one looks good, not bothered about freesat/tuner as we have Sky anyway (although handy to have in case we get rid I guess)

Wahey, voucher came through and it is for the full £700 I paid for the TV :D

The B4 came back in stock on the LG site, unfortunately for £999 rather than the £800 posted above, but I managed to blag an extra 10% off in chat, so £881 in the end.

Now I just need to get rid of that voucher...

Edit: looks like I got in there just in time - it's gone out of stock again

You could/should use the £200 off trade-up

and also 60% off any soundbar.

You can ask them to add it to the order after the fact, for both things.

I don't think the trade up is applicable, it's not listed on the product page, and the rep I spoke to said the voucher he gave me couldn't be used alongside it.

Edit: it is listed as an eligible produce on that page, so I'll ask the question tomorrow

For soundbars, it's only 50% off, and they only seem to have the really low end or really high end ones in stock, so I grabbed an "opened but unused" us90ty from eBay for £350, seems to get good reviews, certainly better than TV speakers, and seems a good deal at that price.

Unfortunately the other half will veto any permanent surround speakers, was tempted by the JBL bar 1000 or 1300 due to the fully wireless surrounds, but they're 2-3x the price!

You edited before I finished uploading my image.

I've seen some reports that Hisense have started adding advertising when the TV is turned on - can't be turned off, the only way to disable it is roll back to a previous firmware and block internet access, or to contact Hisense and complain so they add your serial no. to a blocklist.

To put it mildly: **** that ****.

I've already ordered the 65" LG OLED anyway, should be here tomorrow :D
