I’m famous in my circle for never looking at prices, I just buy what I want but even I’m noticing things.
1) I was at a BP garage, had got my petrol and was waiting in a queue to pay. To my left was all the chocolate bars. I thought I’d get MrsHB and I a Snickers Duo, each. £1.95 each. So almost £4 for 2 chocolate bars?! Nope.
2) MrsHB likes me to jump onto the online shop once she’s done so I can add anything I want. Thought I’d add a feast ice cream pack of 3, but £4,50. Nope, it’s ridiculous. This was with Sainsbury’s.
Day light robbery.

This has been really noticeable. Been eating meat again since 2022, and first diced beef got too expensive for stir fry. Then mince got really expensive and now budget steaks have been taken out of Morrisons' 3 for £10 deal, and the same packs gone up to £5.50. This is standard own brand steaks but they were more than passable TBF.

Nothing really, we just dont make recipies that require beef. We probably only eat meat on 50% of meals anyway so its not a huge loss.
I was going to get a beef joint for the Sunday roast last week and the cheapest they had was £28. That wasn't even the top of the range stuff either, just a bog standard topside, about 1.2kg. The TTD beef joints STARTED at £37
They pro rata the price matches if the product isn't identical.
Aldi are 4x 100ml, sainsburys 4x110ml, so they price it 10% higher to match.

Unlikely. You could already buy foreign* beef in the U.K. before that deal, a few % off the tariff isn’t going to change anything.
*As long as it was produced to U.K./EU standards. Most foreign beef isn’t so it can’t be imported due to the non tariff barrier.
If US suppliers produced their beef to UK/EU standards, the cost would be similar.

The difference of course being that you don't eat a graphics card for dinner every day.
The underlying thread running through this discussion is maybe to have some form of price control. I am very much in the competition camp however I do think that the "loyalty card which is anything but" is a massive scam and probably should be looked into more closely.
But leaning to my competition cap again, disapproval of marketing methodology is a pertinent factor to consider. They are all (or mostly) devils, so just pick your least objectional devil.
