New Windows Update could brick your SSD

I've uninstalled the problematic update and disable windows updates for a few weeks

Even though my drive is not listed as affected, that doesn't mean the update isn't causing other damage

Phison seem to have given things the all clear...
Phison dedicated over 4,500 cumulative testing hours to the drives reported as potentially impacted and conducted more than 2,200 test cycles. We were unable to reproduce the reported issue, and no partners or customers have reported that the issue affected their drives at this time.

Seems to be a bit of an issue with 'tech' youtube-ers sensationalising things recently.

gotta get them clicks and views I guess.
The Jayz video, was purely explaining an article off of a tech website, he didn't make the claim, he simply shared it to help people.

I mean, would they even admit it if it did? :P

Hopefully, it hasn't caused anyone any detrimental data loss - I merely shared it to warn/help people on a 'just incase' basis. At worst everyone who's read this thread, has now got up to date backups, which is never a bad thing :) So I hope that it's helped someone in one way or the other ;)

As much as i like Jay's more entertaining, off the wall, videos i do find him frustrating at times due to how he gets things wrong sometimes or misses things that seem obvious to me.

This isn't a hate on Jay thing as like i said i find his more zany videos fun, however he says in the video that it's an entirely different problem but I'm pretty sure it's not as PresentMon would be logging a bucket ton of data so he is writing large amounts of data. One of the other things is he says some MoBo vendors do a soft/hard reset without seemingly knowing that that's a BIOS setting and vendors choose a default. Then the last on my list of frustrations is how he didn't give any details on what the stop code was or even look in event viewer to get some more details on what was happening just before the crash.

I don't tend to watch his videos very much to be honest :) But regardless, there is an issue, at least he's addressing it to make people aware, versus waiting till it's too late - I can't fault him on that.
Someone in the comments on the video has had it happen before this was even known to be an issue:
"I legit thought something was wrong with my SSD and went through warranty service (which they said everything was fine) a week before these videos started popping up. Thank you for covering this alongside other outlets."

For sure and i can't fault him for that as i would describe him as someone who opens his mouth before he thinks, it's good to have people like because they bring attention to things.

We need the likes of him just as much as we need the Steve's from GN, like i said though it can be frustrating sometime when he gets things wrong but that's the price you pay for fast vs thorough.

I'm in total agreement with everything that you've just said mate :)

Frustrating is the word first he posts a video saying why didn't I try Bazzite before its great then posts a follow up saying the experience has been less than great and showing a screen when it fails to boot... dude you put linux and windows on the same drive, windows update has ****** over the bootloader because it doesn't care about linux either repair it or put them on separate drives or even machines surely you have the money for more than one. I mean this is just basic computer 1-2-3

Apologise if i missed it but have there been reports on what the BSOD stop code is or if the event log shows anything from before the crash, do we have more details or is drive no longer detected all there is to go on so far.
