*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

Have you tried opening the launcher directly in steamapps/common/elite dangerous?

No will try that next. There's quite a big thread about this in May 25. A lot of people managed to fix by deleting temporary internet files oddly.

Just tried and was hopeful as he was asking for my frontier account details but it still did the same thing at the end. I'll try uninstalling the game at least, But not sure why this would fix it if it thinks the integrity is fine.

I found that running EDHM UI V3 would kill the game. My fix was to start game, start EDHM UI V3, go to settings and manually [DONT USE THE GREEN BUTTON] locate the exe, somewhere in Elite dangerous odyssey. That stopped my game from crashing

Ah when I say running, I meant I had it installed to apply one theme. I don't have it running when I play. I also tried uninstalling it just out of curiosity but no cigar.

Gonna try uninstall and then minEDlauncher.

Edit nope. I'll try another day, don't want to spend any more time trying to fix this.

Fixed it. Uninstall GPU drivers did it.

This popped up in my YouTube feed. I'm currently at a loss as what to do so being nosey and having a first hand look appeals. I doubt I'll have any joy on detective work but a certain novelty is always welcome.

On a similar note I'm sure I read somewhere that some Commanders had found signals buried in the game years ago and deciphered them.

Yes, it may need external software to work out, previously you needed to run sound recordings through software that could output a spectrogram which would show images hidden in the audio.

I havnt played Elite for months... maybe years actually.. i started to lose interest when i would come up against a really crap player ship that had been enegineered to the hilt and there was nothing my big standard imperial cutter could do about it.

How are people finding it these days.. are there any better methods for remapping controls.. i used to have a custom control box i made out of wood with backlit arcade buttons

I do have an engineered ship but still mostly play in PVE private group. Biggest issue there is that they are limited to a max 20,000 members so contact with others is limited. I dare say with the latest release squads have been given a refresh/revamp so you may be able to find like minded to play with.

I had an amusing day yesterday. I followed up on the Beacon Mystery and joined the Canoon Gnosis discord (thx @MostlyHuman for the Canon suggestion) to keep up on developments. The original "encryption" was junk but nonetheless I had a fun morning trying different susbstituion methods. Then the real clues began to flow and although I was an hour behind the front runners I followed the clues to their end. It was fun day and something different from the norm.

Sadly I have a clash this evening and will be playing DnD so I'll miss the outcome of the mystery :-( Hopefully there is a meaningful follow on next weekend.

Otherwise I'm grinding a bit of Federation rank and I bought a Cobra V and I'm kitting that out, it'll never be a Cobra III but it looks a fun and overpowered small ship.

Mk V Cobra is a fun small ship. I use mine for power play/bubble travel. But like all the new SCO enabled ships its OP compared to its predecessor. I've retired almost all my non SCO ships.

I do like my krait phantom explorer...... however MostlyHuman is correct... the Mandalay is the better ship. however it's not all about having the best so if you want a phantom just get one :)

Ah maaaan. I got that pre-engineered one but don't like using that, though now I got a fair few spondoolies I could buy a normal one and do.. stuff.

Oh I guess I could just start with the Cobra V, it's cheap innit.

why dont you like using the pre engineered ???. And why would buying aship with in game credits make it better than the one you got with ARX?

Because it just feels like cheating to me and I regret buying it, that's why I started the game again. It will feel 'better' because I earned the credits to pay for it (albeit in a cheesy way with the community event). As someone who hasn't done any of the activities to engineer ships, regardless of how grindy it is, it's a big part of the game that I don't see the point of cutting out, otherwise it feels like a big rush to get to..... what exactly?

Oh, seems servers are down anyway lol.

good reasoning

For me the end game is currently Power Play. Previous to that it was the Thargoid invasion
