CEO of tech company gets caught cheating at Coldplay gig.

I was expecting the CEO had literally snatched a hat from a child, but looking at the video the kid doesn't get anywhere near it, although that doesn't admonish the guy, the intent (I'm sure) was the player intended to give the hat to one of the kids, but the headlines are a little over dramatic (as usual)..

Him doubling down and the internet pitchforks aimed at him is a good thing though!

To be a CEO you have to be a complete and utter bar steward

The question is, why does anyone care?

Lots of married people have affairs and have done since the concept of marriage was invented.

People love drama/soap operas and find entertainment in other people's lives. (Not I).

Only when they insist on making it public for everyone to admire and feed their ego and then complain when it goes **** up through their own actions while everyone is watching.

Except in both of the instances being discussed in this thread, that absolutely wasn’t a thing.

Certainly the first one was absolutely being kept on the down low and they really didn’t expect to be recognised let alone making headline news. Not only that, these people were not ‘famous’, 99.9999999% of people wouldn’t know them if they fell over them in the street.

Not sure the person in the second instance was doing some kind of overt thing to gain public attention. More like they just got caught up in the moment like any person would in that situation.

Apparently, he has responded, and this is his jaw-dropping response: "Yes, I took it. Yes, I did it quickly. But as I've always said, life is first come first served. If you were faster, you would have it... I remind you that insulting a public figure is subject to legal liability. All offensive comments, slander, and insinuations, will be analysed for the possibility of taking the matter to court." Ain't they lovely people?
Sigma male grindset right there. :D:D:D

Modern day Patrick Bateman.

If you look closely he later compensates the kid by giving him his own felt tip pen back, rather than pocketing that as well, since that would also now have the tennis players DNA on it, and thus also be worth a few quid on Ebay. So he can't all be bad*.

*sarcasm level 10. I have him marked down as a massive **** for sure.

Seems to have changed his tune now:

"I know I did something that seemed like consciously collecting a memento from a child," he wrote in a statement. "This wasn't my intention, but it doesn't change the fact that I hurt the boy and disappointed the fans."

Official CEO update:

"Due to the situation that occurred during Kamil Majchrzak's match at the US Open, I would like to unequivocally apologize to the injured boy, his family, all the fans, and the player himself.

I made a grave mistake. In the midst of emotion, amidst the crowd's celebration after my victory, I was convinced that the tennis player was passing the cap to me – for my sons, who had previously asked for autographs. This mistaken belief caused me to instinctively reach out. Today I know that I did something that looked like I deliberately took a souvenir from a child. It wasn't my intention, but that doesn't change the fact that I hurt the boy and disappointed the fans.

The cap was given to the boy, and an apology is due to the family. I hope that I have at least partially repaired the harm.

I also want to make it clear: neither I, my wife, nor my sons commented on this situation on social media or on any website. We did not use the services of any law firm in this regard. All alleged statements appearing online are not ours. For years, my wife and I have been involved in helping children and young athletes, but this situation has shown me that one moment of inattention can undo years of work and support. This is a painful but necessary lesson in humility for me. Therefore, I will be even more actively involved in initiatives supporting children and young people and in actions against violence and hate. I believe that only through actions can I rebuild lost trust.

I apologize again to everyone I have disappointed. Please understand – out of concern for my family, I have decided to disable comments on this post.

Sincerely, Piotr Szczerek"

"My name is Piotr Szczurek, and this is my wife, Monika. We have called this press conference today to address certain recent... misunderstandings. Certain unfortunate circumstances, if you will, which have been somewhat... misconstrued by the press."

"There was, as you know, attendance at a sporting event. A tennis match, which, for the record, was enjoyed very much. It was Monika's idea. She'd been feeling a little 'left out' of the social calendar, and insisted on going somewhere. There was no idea that things would get quite so... out of hand."

"Now, there has been some talk of an... incident. Something involving a... a hat. Let me be perfectly clear. This was not a wilful act of theft. It was, rather, a series of... unfortunate coincidences. A sequence of events entirely beyond my control. There was, you see, an engagement in a rather boisterous conversation with a fellow spectator, a man who, it has since been informed, is a prominent manufacturer of garden gnomes."

"It was at this point that Monika, for reasons known only to her, decided to express her... frustration... with the volume of the conversation. This was, as you can imagine, a very trying time. In an attempt to pacify her, a sudden gesture was made with the hand. In doing so, the hand, quite by accident, came into contact with the headwear being proffered to a young person seated next to me."

"The wind, as it happens, was quite strong that day. And, in a manner of speaking, it took the hat with it. Being a quick thinker, and not wanting to see the young person lose their hat, an attempt was made to retrieve it. There was a scramble after it. But, as fate would have it, the hat landed in the hand at the very same moment that a stray butterfly, a rare specimen it is believed, flew past. In that moment, there was an attempt to swat the butterfly away. Monika, being terrified of butterflies, has often asked me to do so."

"The long and short of it is, the hat was temporarily sequestered in my possession. In the confusion, and as a result of Monika's rather... vociferous reaction to the butterfly, it was... well, it was put in my designer satchel. For safekeeping, you understand."

"So, to conclude, only an apology can be offered for any offence caused. The assurance is given that this was not a deliberate act of malice. Monika, in her own way, is terribly sorry for her part in this. It can only be said that I'm a happily married man and successful concrete company director, with no need to steal a hat from a small child, and that this matter is, as far as we are concerned, closed. Thank you."
