I'm sure Klopp will be just fine. He will be remembered as an all time great manager

Could stop there!

Although he did have the best player in the world at his disposal, like most great managers. The fact he did well in Germany too surely has him down as the best manager of the generation?

It's apparently United's infamous analytics department that has swayed United to buy the new keeper: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c62023rxk1go

I'm surprised they have any faith in the dept...!

Shirely they know that you can't just pick stats from one league and assume the same in the EPL. Although his error stats are likely to be higher given the jump in quality of opponents.

Still bleating on about winning the league in 2028, too.

Let's focus on beating League 2 teams first chaps.

I reckon these are the stats they looked at most.

Martinez wages

Emiliano Martínez earns a weekly wage of £125,000, equivalent to £6,500,000 per year, playing for Aston Villa in the Premier League as a goalkeeper. His current contract, which expires on June 30, 2028, includes a base salary of £7,800,000 for the 2025-2026 season, with an estimated gross salary of £31,200,000 remaining over the next four years.

Compared with Lammens who is apparently now being paid £45k pw at Man U.

Fair point.

What does £45k a week buy you, I wonder.

I think with this purchase and the lack of midfielder, we have a clear statement of intent from the board/INEOS.

Are you complaining that we’ve not gone with Martinez because of the cost of him? Seriously?

Lack of intent? We’ve signed three attacking players and were going to go for Baleba but it would’ve been over £100m… I’m disappointed we didn’t get a Midfielder in, but it’s been a great window of removing a lot of players and getting great replacements. Think your view is a touch harsh.

My question is around what £45k a week buys, a player who has played 30 matches - surely not an Onana replacement?

Why did they wait until the last day? It's been clear that Onana is **** since day 1. The Rat even called him out in the Neville interview.

We could have got a midfielder on loan, surely?

I feel that even if we’d got a midfielder in you still wouldn’t have been happy. They were going to continue with the current goalkeeping solution as I understand it, until it was proven they were still just as useless in the first few games. So I’d see it as a good thing they actually remedied that. I presume as we’re down to 1 game a week they think we can get along till Jan / Summer and go all out for Baleba, Wharton, or whoever when the time comes.

You strike me as the type that would be dying of thirst in the desert and complain that the water is too wet when someone gives you a glass of water. :p

Have they actually remidied it though? That's TBD.

And regarding attitude. To quote Goldbridge, where have you been the last decade?

I swear we're the only club that has fans who are seemingly happy at finishing 15th.

But we’re making steps to remedy that. You can’t find fault in absolutely everything. These things take time. Things don’t change overnight, it can take years of small steps in the right direction.

And obviously for years it’s been bad. We’re all on this wonderful journey together. If you’re using Goldbridge as a thing to quote, no wonder you’re so downbeat!

I just get the feeling that even if we’d won all our games, you’d still be moaning about the lack of a midfielder replacement or X/Y/Z.

Anyway, sorry, back in my box!

Apparently there are rumours that Lammens hasn’t been brought in as first choice keeper

Watched Lammers highlight reel, nothing amazing.

Starting to worry about this signing. Martinez would have been a great fit imo.

If we end up with 3 donkeys in goal after spending all that money when the elephant in the room was the keeper... despair!

Well, then you're wrong.

But either way, we didn't win those matches and we got schooled by a League 2 team. There's literally nothing to cheer about when both keepers are making mistakes and the team still can't score. Yes, there were missed opportunities etc but we've been missing those a lot, this isn't something new. Hence finishing in 15th and not being able to beat Spurs.

Hopefully that will change but at the moment it looks the same as last season.

Give me something to cheer about and I will cheer. I think any fan is within their right to moan about the state of the club.

To be fair, a big enough elephant with its long dexterous trunk would probably make quite a good keeper :)

I really wish other fans would STFU some times, especially when they've posted something that was literally posted 16 posts ago.

Every signing is capable of either being a lemon or someone who improves the team. Nunez at Liverpool, Pepe at Arsenal and yes, we've had our fair share of bad signings.

Here's a highlight reel of Alisson Becker making mistakes, doesn't mean anything, he's a great keeper:
