Google Pixel 8/8 Pro & Pixel Watch 2

I've noticed since updating to Android 16, the notification icons seem a little bit closer to the clock. It almost looks as though the gap needs to be bigger.

Has anybody found a way to quickly toggle NFC on and off? I'd like to be able to toggle it on when making payments, then toggle it back off when I've made my payment. More for security really, but also to help preserve battery life.

I can't see anything in Quick Settings to do with NFC, which is surprising.

Updated to 16 this morning
Let's see if that will fix recent battery issues...
Some interesting stuff in 16 .. life location sharing. Good for late night travel track etc

I updated to 16 a few days ago, and I wouldn't know if it wasn't myself that did the update. I think that's probably a good thing.
Same experience for me. Everything looks the same apart from one or two small things like the VIP notifications. Suppose it is a good thing that it looks the same. Well they have changed, or added, a little animation to the check for system updates page.

Currently on holiday in Germany and my P8 Pro has decided to die. It's been working fine, then went to use it and it wouldn't unlock. Biometrics wouldn't work, and when I entered my pin it's was stating I was entering it incorrectly. Tried to restart the phone and it's now stuck in the fastboot mode:

A quick search seems to indicate a hardware failure. Fortunately it's still under warranty so it'll need to go back to Google when I get back home.

Posted my P8P back to Google last Thursday and they confirmed a hardware fault. There was no lead time on the required replacement parts so they've replaced the phone instead. Received the replacement today and its currently installing my backup. Undecided if I'm going to keep it or trade it in for a P10P XL whilst the deals are available....

Unless you need something specifically from the 10XL I wouldn't.

I have both the 10XL and P8P and the differences are far too minimal for the cost outlay. The so called deals need to be far better.

Mine's going back very soon.

I wouldn't say there's anything in particular, more the normal upgrade itch at the end of my current contract!

Prior to my P8P failing it worked flawlessly, and the battery was still going strong. If the replacement works just as good then I'll more than likely go on a sim only contract for a year to see what next years offerings bring to the table

Has anyone had any NFC issues with their P8P?

Some shops I've embarrassingly been holding up queues where it just doesn't work, restart of the phone usually sorts it, but its bloody annoying.

Also got an issue where when I connect my phone to my car, Spotify defaults to repeat the same song despite that not being set before I get in the car, just another annoying niggle that doesn't happen with my wifes iPhone! At least sometimes it gets her to buy things when it doesn't work eh :D

I have with mine but doesn't sound the same, it's like a delay until it starts working when I unlock my phone so I'm just stood there like a pleb waving my phone around until it eventually registers

I get this too, Typically only with Tesco card readers only. It was the same with my P5 too. After some digging online, It appears to be a common problem with Tesco contactless readers.

What I have noticed is that if I have notifications unread, It appears to be worse. If I clear then all prior to using it, It works better.
