Designed as a ‘sports tyre with snow capabilities’, according to Michelin, this new tyre increases precision in the wet and dry while also giving you confidence in sub-zero temperatures. All-season tyres have traditionally been known for their soft edge and wooly steering response, mostly down to the requirement of a softer compound and more flexible construction in the tread and sidewall. The CrossClimate 3 Sport’s entirely new construction and compound is said to make that a thing of the past.

I am looking to get a new set of tyres for my GR86 but I am confused with Goodyear's offerings.

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 are basically the same price as the Eagle F1 Super-Sports but if I am right the Eagle F1 Super-Sport is a step up from the 6 although the supersport is an older tyre now but from what I have seen it goes head to head with Pilot Sport 4S. Conti Sport Contact 7 is also very cheap in my size and is getting rave reviews beating the Pilot Sport 4S so I guess they are better than the Supersports?

F1A6 and SuperSport are for different things, the SuperSport are more akin to PS2/fast road/track style of tyre.

But, just get CSC7, they are very, very good,
 
I've had AS6 and SC7 on my GTI, pleased with both, though I prefer the AS6, CS7 seemed to take a long time to 'warm up'. The AS6 has better rim protection if that's a concern to you.

But tbh for just general road driving I don't think you can go wrong with any of the top tyres, PS5, SC7, AS6 are all great, and the PZ5, or the Potenza Sports do well too, see below.

I'm maybe trying them on my GT4 - I have a set of 19s for track use and put a set of A052s on.

Only did one very hot morning at Pembrey and they're not looking very healthy. It was a shame as I was expecting god levels of grip and it was so hot everyone was struggling for grip. Glad I didn't take them to the Ring. No way would they have lasted the last weekend I was there.

AD09 or Cup2R will be next - a lad in our group with an Impreza and AD09s and they seemed to last quite well.

Fitted the front pair of AD09 to the Mustang, front-end is a transformation, so direct and so grippy, of course helped with the step up from a 255/45/18 to a 275/40/18 front tyre, so bigger contact patch and a far grippier new tyre compared to a 18yr old Goodyear.

Still running the rear 285 18yr old Goodyears for giggles, enjoying burn outs and sideways action plus I did stock dyno run on those so will change them once car has been on dyno again to see what the mods did, but have a set of AD09 is same size as front for year to go on, square setup will handle better then as right now have to mindful rear has far less grip than front, as I say though really enjoying just being a big kid and leaving elevens everywhere. :D
 
Possibly a daft question but my air compressor, 12v cigarette socket kind, doesn’t have a long enough cable to go from the boot to the front wheels on my new car.

I do have a li-ion jump starter which comes with a 15v/10A adapter, I plugged it in to that and it did run, albeit at a higher speed.

Should I continue to use it this way? Or should I just donate it to a family member and buy either a compressor with a longer cable, or a rechargeable one? I assume running it at 15v might shorten the life span but a new one isn’t that much money.
 
Fancied a wider tyre as even with traction on 225/40/18 ASYM6s (admittedly at 3mm) were screeching when I'd mash my foot to the floor like a pleb.

Went for 235 Conti SC7s. Wow I really forgot what torque steer feels like :o Trade off in cornering and general handling is worth it though.

go cordless, its far quicker to go around all 4 wheels with one
also wire in out of car touching your paint / getting in car door jam

i bought the new Fannatik that you cant buy in the is country (got it shipped over from the US as it was recommended and had a huge discount)
so pleased i got it
 
It's time for some new tyres and after a screw in one of my (better) tyres this morning then it may be a good time to switch it up and get something different.

Car is a 500bhp Golf R and I currently have Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres on it - I'm a bit out of touch with tyres now, would I be best moving to the MPS5 or is there a new king on the block?

Would like to stay about £130 per corner.

E: Road use only, not track

One thing which is nice with the Fanttiks the nozzle doesn't leak air unless you are really slow disconnecting it, I managed to pick some up on sale and they seem pretty decent though the X9 Pro is only suited to car tyres - on vans/light trucks it starts to struggle though it does get there - but that probably isn't surprising though my noname brand similar one manages those fine.

I have (Birmingham branch) no issues with fitting.
Only thing to say is to buy the tyres online and not at the desk in-person.
The reason I say that is if you buy the tyres at the store the receipt only shows the stock code and not the actual tyre...when I bought my tyres they got the codes wrong and fitted f1A5 on my fronts rather than f1A6. When I queried with the fitters and they checked the codes, the guy at the desk actually inputted the code for f1A5 for my fronts so I had to suck it up :(

Now that winters are getting wetter and milder for the most part what's the thoughts behind buying all seasons over generally better in the wet summer Instead of summer tyres and winter tyres, I've gone for a set of summer tyres and all season tyres.

Rears on my Boxster are low, 3.5mm

Looking to replace them in the next few months.


Currently have P Zero N1 on the front, Asy 2 on the rear.


Fronts are 5.5mm



Makes financial sense to get P Zero N1, however I’ve not historically been a fan of PZ4s.


That being said, the N1s may be a different composition to the standard PZ4s - I don’t have enough experience with them yet.



N1 P Zeros are the launch tyre for the 718 so my thinking is they’re probably quite decent and will make the car feel the way Porsche intended it to.


Conti 7s are appealing but I only got 8-9k out of the PS4S - Contis are supposed to be worse still.


Won’t be putting PS4S on as find them incredibly dull.


Any suggestions or experiences with N1 P Zeros on here?
