So apparently there is a Unifi EAV thingy which looks to be an HDMI matrix with USB input!Do you know what would be good - an HDMI over Ethernet with built in USB and app controlled switcher - like an HDMI Matrix but more versatile. Would make for easy centralised storage of computers/hardware into racks and then distribution easily across a house!
Would be a bit loud wouldn't it, by the reviews I've seen it's very loud and an ear piercing sound. I presume the chime works with the new doorbells.I wonder if they will integrate the Doorbell with the Siren PoE, as that would be pretty epic
Yes, the reason I say that is the new G6 doorbells are all PoE, so there is no way of wiring at the moment into the Honeywell which I have.Would be a bit loud wouldn't it, by the reviews I've seen it's very loud and an ear piercing sound. I presume the chime works with the new doorbells.
I know this can be done by using multiple WiFi networks but wonder if it can be done a better way.
I currently have an IOT 2.4ghz SSID, and a default 5ghz one for everything else. Id like to have run different DNS for different devices, can you do it via some form of device groups?
Id rather not have ads, but the wife plays some games that won't work without the ads, I think 4od won't work with certain ads disabled as well. Be handy in groups for hardwired stuff as well short of having a load more VLANs.
Hope that makes sense.
Okay, that's one way i guess, shame it can't be done in groups. I could maybe do it with another VLAN (default with ads, default no ads, and my IOT) then use the device level for wifi stuff. Or am i worrying too much about adding more wifi SSIDs i already have 2 and neighbours have loads. I know most people dont even consider wifi congestion but im trying to limit it.You can complete this via a device-level DNS setting. Leave the client on DHCP and manually set the required DNS server.
Is this an issue because my UI account is not local to the UDM? What are the pros and cons of doing that? Anyone else tried this?
I literally just tried that and it didn’t work. I was trying from the app, rather than web UI, if that makes a difference. Maybe my iPhone is still off on its own Apple DNS server adventures (regardless of what I tell it to do!).If there is no internet a local account is not going to change anything.
you can still log into a cloud account on the device if there is no internet and you are on the local network.

Good excuse to swap out my APs to 6ghz wifi 7 stuff, 2.4 IOT, 5 with ads, 6 without ads. No one around me has any 6ghz so nice and clear.

The UDM also complained on the screen that something was unplugged, which I assume was the WAN.
Is it even worth manually selecting channels these days. I purposely use those DFS ones where possible as most normal APs from ISPs won't use them.I wouldn't worry about the number of SSIDs; you have many channels available. Even if the same channel is used, not really a problem in a home environment, as the utilisation will be low. This goes for the same channel as well, only a problem when the RF is fully utilised. Things to look out for are wireless cameras, 24/7 use! You can click on the AirView and have a look at the stats.

All my cameras are hardwired, only WiFi is things like IOT, phones and laptops.
I've had to manually select channels as it seems my work laptop can only connect to certain ones. If I leave it on auto, It will periodically select one not compatible with the wifi card and stop traffic albeit stay connected to the wifi. It took me some time to figure out.Is it even worth manually selecting channels these days. I purposely use those DFS ones where possible as most normal APs from ISPs won't use them.
