Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (2024)

RTX5xxx hair incoming for the DLC & next patch in early September!
What a glorious day! #RTXON

Started playing this last night and my word it's beautiful! However, FGx2 produces terrible artifacts, almost like vertical tearing on some sections of the screen at times e.g. when turning fast it's noticeable at the bottom of the screen. I've turned it off for now and performance is fine, though I suspect when I return to the jungle areas I'll need to re-enabled it.

I was still getting around 60-70fps with it disabled, but fortunately in urban areas performance is high enough to avoid using it.

3 days the DLC is out, didn't realise I already had it as part of my Steam version  - Was about to buy it again on the 4th lol.

This weekend is going to be amazing for gaming, Cronos and this DLC.

Edit*

Just been playing an old save using the Phantom controller (DualSense Edge basically with mods) and the adaptive triggers are super immersive in this game, probably the best I have played yet implementing them. The adaptive haptics are also really nuanced, again really well implemented at making use of what DualSense can do. I have no problems rinsing through and aiming in this with controller and actually prefer it with DualSense in games that use these features well.

And with full PT enabled it looks/runs so good too, better than what I recall before around launch of the PT update in fact.

Cannot wait for the DLC even more now.

Edit* to skip the annoyingly long intro screens on launch add this to steam: +com_skipIntroVideo 1

Haven't finished this yet as got distracted by other things and left indie in Shanghai for now to continue later. Really enjoyed the game and the exploration so far and hope the DLC is worth it.

I don't think it's a controversial take that if this game hadn't focused so much on graphics, it wouldn't have got half the attention it does now from pixel peepers etc.
I mean just taking this thread as an example. Look at the ratio of comments about the graphics compared to gameplay lol.

It would, it's the only proper full POV Indy game that also stays true to original Indy lore and fanfare. The graphics is just a bonus on top.

The graphics pale in comparison to the audio, Troy Baker does Indy so well that at times I have to remind myself that its not actually Harrison Ford

I love the fact that you two were the first to respond. This just kind of ties into what I'm thinking that without the boomer nostalgia it really wouldn't have done anything (of course I do not mean this in a offensive way, being a boomer myself by internet standards).
I just don't think the franchise appeals to more modern audiences like say Star wars. But again, that's not really a fair comparison because Star wars has had more recent films I think and obviously cartoons etc.

Anyway, regardless I shall pick it up again sometime. I got to the Vatican from memory and I remember thinking Oh, that's a very nice looking croissant

Oh I agree, I dont think the game appeals to the (braindead) masses, it doesnt have enough action for that. Its a game thats more about slow careful play, puzzle solving and quite a bit of reading and as all us boomers know, the masses of today a) cant solve the puzzle of how to put on their socks properly let alone anything more complicated than that and b) are so used to having things digitally read to them that they have no ability to actually read things themselves

:D

Oh I think it still has appeal to a wider audience, even to this day one of my Indy Shorts on youtube has amassed over 250k views with 3k+ likes and gets engagement in the comments. It's a 15 second clip!

Yeah maybe, I mean I'm just basing that on feelings with no evidence at all. More like musing I guess. Not sure if I will have to start the game again or just carry on because I remember getting pretty lost in the Vatican.

I read in an article that how the DLC is started is from the Vatican and you launch it through a new waypoint inside there or something. So I guess at minimum you need to have done a portion of the Vatican bit or something unless there is a direct main menu option to dive right in.

I remember getting lost quite a bit but I quite liked not having a map. I think I only stopped playing it because I started blue prince around the same time and then I got fully hooked into that.

Blue Prince will do that to you, absolute definition of a sleeper hit that game. On paper and on the surface it shouldnt be good but once you start playing thats it. Days fly by. One of my contenders (amongst many this year) for GOTY that is

£14.99 - 57% Off for the DLC if your on gamepass for Xbox series X|S or PC from Loaded|cdkeys, just redownloading the Pc Game to see if my completed save is Ok still.

Does this game work with older graphics cards yet? I have a 1080ti.

I seem to remember there being some sort of tech missing in older graphics cards that didn’t allow the game to even launch. Just wondering if that’s changed.
