***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

So all the new sets out today across most themes.

Having seen the creator Medieval Horse Knight Castle in person, it's well worth the rrp if you're a fan of the castle genre.

I prefer it to the previous 3in1 castle. Doesn't feel that far off the bricklink designer programme castles and sits nicely along side them.

Big one for me is that The UCS Jango Fett's starship is now available in argos so we will see at least 20% off that at some point.

Order the Creator Rhino and Home Alone House for my Wife's 50, family are all putting something in for it. I waited a few days for the new GWP to get added and the order is confirmed. Used some points to bring price down and got the same amount back for the order.

I been really trying my best to stick away from buying any more Lego as I really need to save money after seeing my savings drop this year by about 3k due to lots of bills & lots of price rises and having very little work overtime this year.

Yesterday I popped into my local shop that sells Lego a to buy something else and of cause what did I see

A big Lego Mario Kart box  But am trying to do my best to fight buying it :(

Don't resist - the Mario kart model is superb !

The new Wall-E set looks great. That will be a definite Christmas present for my son.

My wife's birthday present turned up with DPD at eight this morning. Massive box, had to take it straight upstairs and put it in the store room but it sticks out a bit.

A couple more sets from alt brands, first up a 2000 piece AT-AT from TGL. Good quality bricks but the build itself was a little boring as a lot of repetition.

Now this one was interesting, a speed champions type set from Xinyu, again really good quality bricks but it also comes with its own display case styled like a shipping container. The quality of the packaging and instructions was also really good compared to what comes with Lego these days. All for the bargain price of just £13!

The plastic costs peanuts, what Lego costs what it costs because it’s mostly designed and manufactured in Europe and they also pay the rights holders for using their IP.

The above set is a bargain for £13 if you ignore the above.

By contrast, China brands usually rip off designs by LEGO or other LEGO community builders, rip off western IP, the less said about the labour condition/pay the better and finally ship it into Europe with subsidised post.

You can get some real bargains if you are not worried about any of that stuff.

No sure if this is allowed in here and I might get strung up but.......

Has anyone tried the new Mattel Brick Shop sets.
I'm considering buying some of the smaller car sets to add to my Speed Champions.

This is an instant buy for me...
