BMW and M Power Owners

Does the job, I think I mentioned elsewhere I don't really care about looks, as the driver I don't have to look at the outside much.

Those stats are impressive to me though, I hope to be able to lease one early next year as my GV70 is due to go back in January and these launch in March in the UK.

Funny that it's got a larger boot than the BMW iX model.

I think it looks great. Just watched the CarWow vid. Interior looks amazing too. Just waiting for the new iX5 ;)

Certainly a big step up from the abomination that is the new X3 (interior & exterior). The only thing that annoys me on all these new SUVs & Estates is the sloping rear hatch. I know it's needed for aerodynamics, but it just kills the boot capacity :(

I know a lot of people don't but IMO when you're spending so much money on a car, you need to be chuffed(to some degree) seeing it parked outside. It's always easy to moan about changes in design direction(thinking back to Bangle) but some of these new models are so far beyond what happened under his leadership that I don't think they'll age nearly half as well as something like the original 1 series or even the E60 5 series.

Or, maybe I'm just getting old.

The way my house is, I can't see my car from inside.

Dude, everyone HATED the E60 when it came out.

That’s my point. It was hated but has aged quite gracefully.

It’s easy to dislike change and point fingers but we’ve had the ‘ugly’ phase of BMW for a few years now and it’s not growing in the same way.

Again, this is just my opinion(I still dislike the current 4 series for example) and could possibly be a sign of age. I like modern design but not this.

The Bangle cars, while very divisive at the time, are now looked back on fondly as good designs. I suspect the BMW design team’s output since probably around 2020/2021 won’t, I suspect, be looked on quite so favourably in twenty years time.

Maybe for some, but not for others. Only the release of the current 5 series has stopped me thinking that era of 5 series was the worst looking 5 series they ever made.

Exactly - the comments get boring!

Most cars : "The design is dull"
A new design is shown: "It's an assault on my eyes"

Basically, any new design will take time to absorb, there is no need to act like a child when you see it
Car design is totally subjective anyway, some will like it and some won't. If you don't like it then don't buy it. Those that do buy it don't' care what the other side thinks

Simple :)

It's not really that simple at all is it. I don't need time to absorb the design of the latest cars, I don't like them and they don't interest me. Meanwhile competing manufacturers are releasing products which do still look great and do interest me, so I'll keep my current BMW, which is excellent, as long as I can and if we don't have a new design direction from BMW by the time it's due for replacement I'll buy something else.

I'm allowed to be a be a bit sad that a manufacturer I've admired and purchased for many years keeps putting out new designs I don't like and I'm allowed to have an opinion on that.

Not to mention car manufacturers aim their designs at their familiar demographics, so if you age and your tastes don't keep up with the latest trends then you can find yourself on the side lines and then going elsewhere ;)

Personally, I've always disliked BMWs when they change their design language, but usually I do come around within 12 months.. the G23 was a good case in point, hated it at first, now I quite like it, the iX was hideous at launch, now I quite fancy one..

Go figure..

I somehow doubt the target demographic for a new 7 series is the 20-25 market.

Do you own an iX by any chance?
