Intel Core Ultra 9 285k 'Arrow Lake' Discussion/News ("15th gen") on LGA-1851

Quick question: I think I remember someone here testing the power consumption of a 285k and a 9950x system for one day (or something like that) each. How were the results for this?

I've used both the 285K and 9950X3D, and I have had both CPUs over 200W, depending on the state of tune.
 
Battlefield tends to be a tough game for leveraging the capabilities of 3D cache - while it gives big boosts in relatively mundane conditions when things become more chaotic it struggles to provide a benefit, ultimately for the smoothest performance in chaotic large scale action a mixture of frequency and core count wins out.

I've always found the Frostbite engine to be very RAM sensitive and loves bandwidth. It's often a better RAM / Cache test than the likes of Karhu etc...

In its default configuration (i.e without the user.cfg tweaks), it will use up to 28 cores if I remember correctly, which you can see by loading some of the console stats.

As it highlights where the errors are with Arrow Lake, it does all boil down to the interconnect speeds and L3 cache speed. This is also where the Intel 200S Boost will aid the ARL CPUs, as it clocks the NGU and D2D to a ratio of 32, which brings quite a good uplift in performance while paired with RAM, which keeps the values under 1.4 on the VDD/Q

Did you measure the average power consumption across the whole day for each one?

The issue with most of the readily available power meters is nearly all of them are calibrated* at 50% of the maximum power rating and at 220-230 volts, while most of the UK is well over 245v. My supply is 246~ for instance, so right of the bat at 1840watts the meters 2% accuracy is more like 14% and the further away from 1840 (50% max) watts you measure the less accurate the reading.
Tried the Corsair HX1500i with direct motherboard connection and it actually shows about 15-20 watts higher than the wall power meter. I don't know what to trust now. It seems like the PSU reading should be more accurate, shouldn't it?

Depends a bit on the wall power meter - they vary from reasonably accurate to not at all accurate and some average over quite a long time period compared to the PSU reading which is often instantaneous.
 
Arrow Lake refresh (disappointing clock speed bump only) delayed to 2026, will probably launch just a few months before Nova Lake.

The 265K is currently £280 vs £270 for the Ryzen 9700X.

"bUt its grEat valUe in AdoBe AfTereFfeCts" So what? if that mattered you would have to remind me, you wouldn't have to keep making blogs about how good your mid range CPU's are in productivity, We know.... We don't care, if we are doing productivity we are not buying mid range CPU's, we want them for gaming and they are too expensive for what they are in that, stop fooling yourself, you cannot command a premium for these chips because they bench a bit faster in Adobe Software.

Oh wont someone please buy my CPU's.... sure, happy too, if you can make it make sense to me, i'm not paying a premium for them, i don't care about E-Cores, they are getting turned off its a CPU for gaming.
