The F1 Driving Standards Guidelines.

How delightfully self-contradictory they are. Point B says "To be entitled to be given room, including at the exit, when overtaking on the OUTSIDE, the overtaking car must...", the bit you quoted is reinterprets that to "the responsibility ... avoid a collision" and the now published decision reinterprets it again to "earning the right to the racing line". Bearman absolutely complies with what point B says, the second is arguable and the third is stupid. It's almost like the stewards are trying to interpret these rules in the dumbest possible way because they know they're bad and they want them changed.

Oscar's take on the 'shenanigans's:
"It’s something we’ll discuss for sure. When you’re in the same team it’s the same pit crew, same mechanics, there’s a lot at stake not just for us but the whole team. I think today the decision to swap back was fair.
Lando was ahead of me the whole race so I don’t have any issues with that. But we’ll definitely discuss."

Tough on the Oscar fans but played fair by Lando and the team.

It is a shame that McLaren swapped around for my F1 fantasy team and a slow pitstop is unfortunately part of racing for your competition to take advantage of as I am sure they would have done had it been any other team or driver. The slow pitstop was hard and unlucky on Norris (as for any driver) and it was a nice gesture by the team to swap them back over, Norris hasn't had the luck of the reliability/team the last two races. That said Pisatri is leading fair and square over the season so far and both the drivers are quite well matched with each being quicker at different races and it has been a good season to follow.

Is it just me or has neither piastri or norris showed anything special in the sense of max, Hamilton and Alonso have shown during there earlier career.?

I don't think either driver are anything special and don't think any of them are going to be the next max or the next Hamilton

Norris certainly hasn’t; epitome of lucky to have the fastest car. I don’t think Oscar is up there with just yet either but he’s showing improvement and consistency. He’s made a couple decent overtakes too.

McLaren is a pretty boring team at the moment. 2021 was a gem.

It's hard to say isn't it but as of now I'd say Oscar wins more drivers titles than Lando. Just think he has that dog in him that Lando doesn't. Landos a Jenson Button, nice bloke, will win a world title if he gets the best car and the luck but lacking that slight killer instinct to say he's ever going to be a 2/3/4 time champion.

Having said that if Max was in that team neither of them would touch him right now but he's literally in his prime now whereas I'd say Oscar and Lando are a few years away from it.

I honestly can't think of any other driver in history that's dominated their team mate as thoroughly as Max has done the last few years. Hamilton in his prime still had Bottas picking up podiums.

For one car to be finishing consistently at the top end and the other finishing virtually last most weeks is mid blowing.

Max can drive the car. His team mates couldnt get the same out of it that he has.

I do think I would have preferred it if they just let fate be fate in this instance, yes it was unfortunate but that's life sometimes. McLaren aren't going to be beaten by the rest of the teams so it would have been better letting them race and seeing if Piastri could hold him or or if indeed Norris would bin it or take them both out.

Racing is better when they can't win the race, and they can't lose constructors championship.

Not the best of races

Max once again shows his hypocrisy;
“He just let go of the brakes”
Yeah, they rewrote rules on overtaking because that was your MO…

And also fastest race ever…

Suppose still decent result for McLaren considering

Not sure how I feel about the McLaren thing.

I mean, I get why they did it, especially after the engine failure Norris had last race. It was a nice gesture, and

It does open up a bit of a can of worms though.

They are both basically in a 90's Williams era where you could put anyone in the car and win a championship.

Max is showing just how different gravy he is this season. His car is 4th in the championship and if the Macca drivers keep taking points off each other he could catch up if he gets a streak of wins.

Only caught the highlights, glad I didn’t waste 1.5hrs watching that.

McLaren did the right thing, at least Oscar was decent about it. He knew it was the right thing to do. If Lando had pitted first who knows maybe the malfunction always would have happened to the second car and therefore Oscar. At that stage they were weren’t catching Max so all that was fair was the order between them being correct.

lol at Max’s incomprehension at giving back the place. Yeah mate. We know what you think already

I want Lando to win the McLaren fight, but Oscar giving up the spot after the slow stop didn’t feel right. Those 3 points could be big later.
