Mclaren boring, what on earth are you on?
As has been stated Oscar could not get anywhere near Lando on Sunday and was under threat from Charles until Lando helped him out, this is fact not any bias.
The 2024 race has nothing to do with what took place.
Just means you didn’t read my original response.

I wasn’t arguing about the move to protect from Charles just that it was similar to 2024, but you lot are applauding Monza but complained about Hungary even though it’s the same thing. McLaren made a mistake which resulted in the drivers changing position; the difference was Lando threw a tantrum and Oscar did what was asked of him.

To avoid getting jumped if a sc / vsc happened after he pitted.

About the pit order

“It’s what we decided as a team beforehand,” Norris explained. “If it was the other way around, we would have done exactly the same thing.

That pretty much clears it up for me

I guess Mclaren must have forgot they decided the order when they initially asked Lando to pit 1st.
Not really and although these things are talked about and decided on before the race it was Lando who suggested the alternative when asked to box for softs.
"Norris shrewdly suggested an alternative.
“Do you want to box the other car first?” he asked. This was his privilege as the lead driver. There was a pause as the idea was discussed on the pitwall before Joseph came back with: “Yep, we’ll do that. We’ll swap it round. So stay out.”

“Well, only if he doesn’t undercut me,” cautioned Norris. “Otherwise I’ll box first.”

“There will be no undercut,”

Well no. If you want to talk about this race only - it would be down to the fact that Piastri qualified third and couldn’t get past Norris during the race until the team made a howler in the pit stop.
That's racing. Luck decides championships. What if Norris slightly overran his marks, would they swap them still? It's such a minefield in a close championship to walk into. What if Piastri murders his tyres and gets stuck in the pits trying to get the tyre off 'teams fault'. Switch em around.

Basically dodgy pitstops that's racing.

Thing is a couple points now doesn't seem such a big deal. But when it comes time to give out the championship the standings wont care about who was nice and followed the team game.

However none of those took place and the agreement was that there would be no undercut. If the team had stated to Lando sorry mate we messed up the pitstop so we renegade on the agreement how would it be if this situation arose again. Do you think for one minute Norris would ok with it?
Sure way to alienate a driver.

Who, exactly, has supported this decision but opposed their actions in Hungary?
I certainly don't know either, however it is far far from being the same.
Who exactly is 'you lot'?
"you lot" = The Peoples Republic of Blindly Supporting British Drivers.

Hungary 2024: McLaren box Lando to cover Hamilton, whereas Oscar would've had priority but they did that to protect position. Oscar has a slow stop and comes out just behind Lando i.e. only loses position because of McLaren. Norris cries for several laps before conceding the position that he was gifted.

Monza 2025: McLaren box Oscar to cover position, Lando has a slow stop and loses position, Oscar gives the position back after being asked.

I don't get how you're so confused by that?

That is so funny, as apposed to one blindly supporting an aussie driver, who is a honorary brit anyway.
I see how confused you are about the differences between Hungary and Monza but we can keep this up all day. Clearly you are annoyed because your man lost to Lando, just give it a break and understand most don't share your views on this pointless argument.

I personally don't have a driver I strongly care about in this title fight. I do have to say I appreciate McLaren keeping it funny in what would otherwise have been a bit of a dreary season. Takes me back to the good old days of detonating Ilmors and Ron Dennis' 'just wait for the Nurburgring update'.

Never said I was an Oscar supporter, he's just clearly the superior driver between the McLaren pair and doesn't bring that whingey pity party to the track. Wouldn't even put him in my top 3 from the current grid.

The fact that you think I was against the swap shows you haven't read anything and are just arguing for the sake of it. All I said was that the Lando stans were so happy with the swap in Monza but threw a fit in Hungary when it was the other way around. Champions aren't made by letting your teammate through though.

It's better that you don't reply given your current state.

Same really. I am sorting of rooting for Norris more as he is a Brit, and unlike seemingly most, I quite like him as a person. However, I quite like Piastri too so Im not going to be all that bothered who wins between the two.

You seem to be arguing with people you've made up in your head rather than anyone in this thread.
Not sure where you got that from as I wasn't arguing with anyone outside of cuke2u (because he hadn't watched Hungary last year).

I just noted that the 2 races were similar and the contrast between how each driver handled it, which is factual.

Current state of what, I've showered and dressed myself today
Seriously though you are taking this conversation to a personal level now and thus I will contribute no more. As the saying goes don't feed the trolls.
Just silly and a shame a debate can't be conducted without resorting to pettiness.

Your version of debate is not reading the post and making up your own narrative. You don't even know what you're arguing about, because I wasn't arguing about anything to begin with.

Makes sense that you're like this if you only started watching the sport this year.
