LG 5120x2160 Ultrawides

Will wait for your feedback. Keep putting in basket - but have spent far too much on new gfx card and Psu need to chill a bit ideally.
Reviews suggest 800R isn't for everyone, although I suspect it works particularly well with the racing type games I play.

You always have a 30 day money back guarantee just in case.

Yeah, I think it would be fine for my use case. My only concerns are I'm really happy with current Alienware 34dw and whether the larger screen and steeper curve would work ok with some older games. Diff coating, woled vs qd oled etc.

Let me know how you find it and what you are going from.

Apart from the initial - seemingly paid reviews the real world reviews are lacking so far.

Thanks

My monitor arrived a day early today and it is indeed a stunner.

I noticed a slight amount of what looked like thin static shadows on bright images, however this was fixed by running the pixel cleaning cycle, thank goodness.

The curve is fine for me so far, ran Doom The Dark Ages briefly and it was amazing.

Basically its a fantastic screen and I'm very happy with it - looking forward to running some more games on it this evening.

Had added this to my wish list and as with all LG monitors etc it will drop in price eventually so looking forward to Black Friday / Xmas at around 1k ( in no rush ) I am sure Battlefield 6 will look lovely on this

So it’s all setup…playing car racing games on it is incredible! I went from a LG C2 42’ to this and it’s a world of difference. The 800R will take some getting used to especially when editing documents but games looks amazing.

I see there is meant to be a bendable / less curved version of this coming - 45GX990A.

I can't find it mentioned much online, anyone happen to know of when it may be appearing?

Agreed, anything other than OLED now it's going to be quite poor in comparison. It'll be half the price in no time!
Oh def - Takes about 6 months to a year but the Top end OLEd always drops in price loads. The Asus 32 OLEd was like 1,4k last xmas and dropped to lowest of around £800ish.

Do you all recommend this monitor ? One of my friends is thinking about downsizing and he got new with the preorder and NHS discounts at the time near the £1200 mark and will sell it to me for less. I was going to wait for black friday and Xmas discounts at it should be around that mark. Plus a large retailer was selling it recently with 12 months 0% APR which was temping.

The problem is I use a samsung 57 which I love but do miss OLED for gaming though, Have any of you swapped from a 57 to 45 OLED and loved it ?

Now we're talking! This is pretty much my ideal monitor in terms of aspect ratio and resolution.

My only reservation here is how the OLED panel deals with text as 80%+ of my usage will be productivity.
I've always had reservations about this as it's generally been an issue but I'm hoping this RGWB subpixel layout they're touting will help somewhat.
@Baddass is there any more info on this in particular?

I care more about the sheer size of the monitor, for involvement.

Having used a 39" UW for some time, I then bought a 34" OLED and have been somewhat unhappy with the smaller screen. A 45" would be a great upgrade.

This is going to sound like a stupid question but what is this going to be like. Currently have a 36 inch wide-screen. Have my gaming wheel ect set up on desk plugged into my computer. Shift the wheel base aside and plug work laptop into the monitor when not gaming during the day. Theres no way the ancient laptop is going to do 5k lol. But can the 5k monitor be switched to drop down to 1080p or 1440. I would love this monitor but concerned I cannot use work laptop with a 5k monitor. Thanks

Yes, it can.
I'm not sure about whether it has a 1440p mode but I know it has a 1080 mode.
But then Image Scaling is almost as good and you can but that separately, even if your graphics card doesn't support it.
