What have you done to your car today?

Drove the MX-5 somewhere other than to an owners club event or Tesco's. Probably for the first time this year, 2 seater plus family life isn't a great formula :p

My wife wanted to use the last day of her season pass at a local fun park / farm with our 4 year old so I decided to meet them a bit later for lunch after tacking some flatpack and a couple of other jobs. Turned up and there was a small classic car show on which was a plus.

Generally I'm sick of driving, not helped by 25000 business miles a year but the moment I get in that slightly tatty little green car that cost me three grand over twelve years ago and I'm instantly in my happy place.

Maybe I'll keep it another 12 years and it can be in the show itself, not just the car park :p

Changed the rear axle seals and gaskets on the peanut, cleaned up the rear brakes, and topped off the diff oil.

I wanted to change the seals behind the hubs too, but after removing one hub realised that you have to press the bearing out of the hub to replace the seal, and then press the bearing back in... They looked okay and felt pliable so I just put them back on.

And removed the brake master cylinder for rebuilding.

If this doesn't fix my weird brake light sticking on issue, I am out of ideas.

I caught up with a guy last night who has some 50s/60s Austin parts stockpiled. I'm talking gearboxes and stuff. Is it worth asking him for anything?

Also @Diddums - have you seen www.africarally.com ?

As with anything old car parts related, it depends how much he wants for things. :p

Plenty of stuff I fancy, but not if he's one of these fellas that wants £200 for everything. :D

I spent many hours on Sat doing a bucket wash on the Pug Boxer because my tap adaptor doesn't fit the taps I put on the one sink it did fit. Will double check before I replace the next set of taps.

I did a proper vac and clean of the inside during a break in the rain yesterday. Thankfully the sun cream/moisturiser stains on the front passenger seat washed off without any drama.

New van arrives just after midday, can't wait for my son to see it.

After my near death experience on Friday followed by a hit and run a hour later I finally got around to fitting the front and rear dashcams this morning that I have had sitting around for months so now the Leaf has eight camera's on board!!

Gave it a rest today after 3 days driving around France clocking up 900 miles, from flying down the Autoroutes to blasting between towns on the D roads the Elise didn't miss a beat and continued to demonstrate what a capable little car it is.

Even managed to catch 'Le Cars & Coffee' at the old Reims circuit yesterday morning which had some amazing cars there.

Took my Model Y Performance to Tesla.
Drivers seat creaks when i shift my weight, accelerate or brake.

They decided it needs a new entire seat... Which is nice, because the previous owner must have been on the chonky side, based on the bolster wear.

Swapped from Richmond gti wheels to stock Cadiz today, put the stock silver wing mirrors back on too so it's how it was when it left the factory now pretty much, bar the miltek :D

Did it pass?
No news yet. It needs all oil, brake, PAS, coolant fluids to be changed and then the issue with the ABS to be investigated (light on - could be as simple as a sensor or could be something else). Only then will they put it through an MOT. I have a feeling the tyres might need replacing too; they look fine and have plenty of tread but are quite old now and sat for a few years so it wouldn't surprise me if they find ageing cracks on the inside when they get it up on a ramp. It felt like they had flat spots when I was driving there. I'll probably call them for an update tomorrow.

I was pleasantly surprised the rear spoiler worked as normal and the sunroof not only opened but also closed again. That's always a risky action on an old Corrado :)

I just had a call from the garage... it's passed! I collect it tomorrow.

I'm shocked how much VED has gone up on it in a few years though. I'm sure it was about £290 about three years ago. Now it's £378.

Not today but last night... I had to drive from Norwich to Warrington. I'd planned to leave at 6pm, life got in the way and that became 8pm. Just in time for all the overnight road closures. A11 closed, A14 closed, M6 closed

First closure I came up on just as they shut the road and no diversion signs were in place. I ended up Colin McRae-ing my way round some rural roads to join back up with it a bit later. Managed to totally cook the brakes on the Astra PHEV without much effort at all. They still had plenty of bite but my god, the smell!

Ended up getting to a Travelodge at 00:10 (after a quick coffee stop en route) then got handed the key... To an occupied room. After nearly getting myself arrested and scaring the **** out of some poor woman who was fast asleep I finally got reissued a key for a room that was actually empty

I love my life...

Company car the Astra? :p

Hopefully you opening the door is what woke her up, and she didn't wake up to you wandering around her room?

How did you guess? :D

Yes, thankfully I paused at the door as I thought "that's odd, someone has left their trainers in here" then the light from the corridor woke her up!
