If your debit card gets stolen or cloned and used fraudulently, then the money spent fraudulently is your own money out of your account, so you'll be out of pocket until the bank refunds you. If you also have direct debits from the same account then it could cause issues if payments are due but the funds are missing etc.
If you only ever use a Credit card to pay for anything, then if that card gets cloned or stolen its the banks money that's taken, not your own, and thus you still have access to your money until the bank sorts the card refund out.
Don't think of them as a credit card, just pay the balance every time you spend on it, then it's no different than a debit card but you have no worry of your hard earned money being stolen.
