Steam now requiring age verification in the UK

I would imagine it'd be stuff like that. Allow people.to activate the key but grey out the install/play button, until you've provided an ID. Similar to how they region block some games.

Lol, when will people learn those don't do ****. Love how it skirts around the actual reason some gooners people are annoyed about it.
They never do anything directly in response to those petitions, but they still provide a signal to the parties about what issues might be worth campaigning for, come election time. I know that there are people who plan to change which party they vote for due to this issue alone. Don't let the establishment wear you down into learned helplessness.

Nothing's grinding me down. I'm just completely apathetic about the whole thing, probably why I've also never voted.

Whats frustrating would be i only have a debit card, and ive only ever needed one.
i cant fatham why i would want oe need a credit card.

my worry is they move on to other genre

Out of interest I checked my history as well; Jul 27, 2008 @ 3:52am. I thought I'd used the store before then, but I must have just got the free to play stuff or registered keys which used to come in with physical discs.

Edit - the transaction was in USD so I can only presume the time of it is US as well.

And like you said in another post, you're used to verifying your ID with CC details for smut anyway, so what's another string to that bow :P

I think it was actually you who said that! I just meant providing identity to third parties, I recall having to do it to verify an old betting account for example.

You are thinking far too rationally. Fact is pollitical parties look at petitions as possible stances for future elections, if it's successful it could well be picked up in a manifesto. It's a signal of support..

Political parties use them for their own benefit when they need to, they rarely care about whatever cause it is.

I'm sure the 7000 gooners will be a top priority.

You can distil it down to something silly if you want, I don't particularly like the idea of a company telling me what I'm allowed to purchase based on how they feel on that day. That puts power in the hands of private companies, which have over decades become monopoly/duopoly in nature.

Yeah I agree, I'm just taking the p :)

If your debit card gets stolen or cloned and used fraudulently, then the money spent fraudulently is your own money out of your account, so you'll be out of pocket until the bank refunds you. If you also have direct debits from the same account then it could cause issues if payments are due but the funds are missing etc.

If you only ever use a Credit card to pay for anything, then if that card gets cloned or stolen its the banks money that's taken, not your own, and thus you still have access to your money until the bank sorts the card refund out.

Don't think of them as a credit card, just pay the balance every time you spend on it, then it's no different than a debit card but you have no worry of your hard earned money being stolen.

Thats a interesting why of putting it. I never thought of CC's like that before.

It was speaking from experience of having my debit card cloned about 20 years ago. They emptied my bank account, and back then, online banking wasn't so mainstream, so it took a while before I realised and direct debits couldn't be taken, caused no end of issues.

Now I don't use my debit card for anything. Only use Credit card, then as soon as the transaction appears on my card, I just pay it off.
