Im trying to think back to when I started pc gaming (Fermi) and as you have eluded to - a near 5 year old card (3080) is just starting to show its age and in fairness to it I imagine it still has enough grunt if one manages their expectations…. I stand to be corrected, but I don’t remember GPUs back in the day (think last 320bit card GTX 570) had the same effect, IE, Could a GTX 570 play the latest games reasonably well 5 years after release? Whereas the 3080 can still crush 1080p and manage 1440p very well…checking reviews as well, a Flaship card in 2015 was approx. 4.5x faster (Titan X vs 570) whereas a 5090 today vs the 3080 is roughly 2.5x faster.. I do believe GPUs are lasting much longer than they used too…With the sale of your 3080 you can get a 5080 for less than £800 which tbh isn't too bad when you consider you Paid nearly £700 for the 3080 on release.
I'm also running a 3080 10gb, it's been a beast of a card tbh, only now am I starting to feel the limitations of the memory.
