@JonRGV250 Yes mate. I read about it, just been too busy to update here. I am very happy for Yogesh. He got a 790 Adv too.

I am part of a local group and we managed to gather about £1100 in contribution. Plus as per a reddit comment Yogesh received another £700 from Overlanders. Another person donated their £500 worth of helmet won at an auction.

Police also appears to have arrested an 18 year old who was in possession of Yogesh's laptop. Hopefully others get arrested as well.

All is well that ends well... :)

Reckon you'd get a decent gen 2 S1000R Sport for that money, maybe even a higher milage gen 3.

Suppose it depends on what you're after really - I've had a gen 2 S1000R Sport and now have the gen 3; can't fault either bike really, other than the *#£% throttle tube/housing, which on both of my bikes around the 10k miles mark, got really creaky/sticky to operate and the only fix seems to be replacing it for about 300 quid! Though I'm hoping my gen 3 can get it fixed under warranty.

If you fancy something fun - what about the older 939 Hypermotard/Hyperstrada, bags of fun, and with a pipe, they sound amazing
300 quid for a throttle tube? WTF is it made out of, gold?

I didn't consider the Hypermotard tbh, good shout!
How about MV Agusta Brutale 800? I know their service network is sparse but it will be a great bike to put a huge smile every time you ride it or just look at it.

I've had wet dreams about one for awhile now, never been brave enough tho... It is a bike you buy for the looks and 'character', as apparently they don't handle or perform. :p
Assuming this isn't a commuter, how about something properly mental for a bit?

I don't think, I would go back to commuting on a bike, use to ride all year round and wouldn't want to go back to it. It's purely a toy to take out when the sun is shinning.
Everything else being equal, I've always stuck to the cheesy mantra of the bike choosing the rider. Build a hit-list of four or five bikes and go ride them all. One will put a bigger smile on your face than the others.
Yeah, I wouldn't buy a bike without test riding a few first, I just need to make that list, the MT-09 seemed like the best combination of a hooligan machine that is good for wheelies after a custom retune (helps with choppy throttle apparently), can do touring on it and I can also have a pillion at the back.
If I went for that type of bike (hipster) it would have to be R9T.

Insurance renewal time of the year for the Bird.

Running an annual quote inclusive of Pillion, Legal expenses and Helmet and Leather cover as below. Also includes 90 day EU cover. Can ride any bike.

Bennetts Bike (my current) - £386.90
Hastings Premier - £361.49

I am thinking about going for a separate breakdown cover. Would you guys have any recommendations for Motorcycle breakdown providers please? I ask as both AA and RAC appear to get some flak online. I came across GEM but have no experience with them other than some positive reddit comments on CarTalkUK reddit.

Can you show me this pls? I've been looking for something like this but apparently this is a commercial-only policy that costs £lol.
Here. I can't find this mentioned explicitly for Bennetts.
I guess it means test rides. Probably rentals too. Will have to check.

Bike width is 77 cm

Looking at a shed, one has door width of 70 cm another 62 cm

So would need twisting bars/leaning over to get through the door, do you think it's possible- it's only a 125 scooter. I prefer the one with the 62cm door as it has a raised floor / sub frame so the bike won't be on the ground.

Read the fine print, its usually a 3rd party cover and the bike has to be insured.
BS used to offer fully comp on other bikes as long as the bike you were riding had an existing fully comp policy. Great for bike swapping with mates on a ride.

On cars its usually 3rd party, the car can't be in your name and it needs to be insured. I'm not sure about bike insurance, but I wouldn't be suprised if it was similiar..

Ye, I've got 3rd party cover on both my fully comp policies, my tpft policy doesn't have it. Same as above, the bike has to have it's own current insurance on it.

These were my old riding other bikes restrictions with BS. No mention of limited to TPFT.

Deleted. The section is useless without the corresponding policy booklet. Can't get that now.

Has anyone ever used the Bennetts Bike- Bike Social membership? It comes free with their insurance, and I never accessed it in the last year so not sure what am I missing.
