McDonald’s general discussion

We took the kids to McDonalds yesterday.

Can't get over how much it costs for 3 medium meals and an Happy Meal.

My local mcdonald’s ran out of iceberg lettuce today so my big mac looked rather sparse. The thing is they are literally next door to a tescos. Are their food safety standards so strict that they can’t pop into a supermarket and pick up a lettuce?

A happy ending though - I had purchased an iceberg lettuce at the weekend for some BLT sandwiches so was able to rectify the matter on my return home.

Got a philly cheese stack last night and wasn't impressed, The cheese sauce made the whole thing seem very dense and hard to eat.
And i know people keep going on about it but the cost of McDonalds now is insane.

I tried one of those phillies, it's pretty mid, unremarkable, no notes. rip off for the money, I would say.

They went though a period of lots of discounts on the app, about a year ago, which made it ok, but most of the offers seems to be delivery only at the moment... and a 30min+ old Maccies is just minging.

For the price, you almost may aswell go to an actual resterant and get a proper meal, or order pizza/kebab if you are feeling dirty.

Burger van burgers are better than McDonalds.

Yes.

There are no knives* in a McDonalds Kitchen. Literally everything is pre-prepped and cut to size before it arrives in the store.

They might have a couple of pairs of scissors in the office stationary collection.

*back in the day when they still did the round veggies burger, we needed to cut it in half to make a veggie wrap, they supplied a large plastic knife which wasn’t sharp enough to cut anything, it more just mushed the veggie burger into 2 pieces.

We used to also have to cut up the chicken legend burger to top it on a salad, again you use this blunt ‘blade’ which wasn’t sharp and it just sort of mushed it into pieces.

Not McDonalds, but a mate of mine works for a restaurant chain and it drives him up the wall that the chefs often can't be bothered to pop down the road and buy something like a lettuce and would rather just skip it from all the dishes.

They can't buy things like sauces where it might affect allergens etc, but for things like fruit, vegetables etc it's fine.

It's also a franchise... The branch manager can't decide buy burgers from ASDA or cash and carry... They have to buy the official ingredients from official suppliers.

Brand integrity, consistency of quality across restaurants, etc.

Been a while since I've been but got one the other day for breakfast. Somehow, they managed to mess up two orders of Double Sausage and Egg McMuffins, got home and one was a Triple Sausage McMuffin with no egg and the other a Double Bacon and Egg McMuffin with no sausage.

Presumably you bought them both for yourself.. They've pretty much covered all bases there! Hahah
