Vince's Repair Thread - (Console Repairs & Mods)

Hmm, are you looking at it on the UK site? As far as I know it comes with a 3 pin plug… it’s the UK version
Yes it's the UK site, I just checked, The second image they post.

Well that's as clear as mud then :)

In the main Description they have this:

RODUCT DETAILS INFORMATION:

  • Adjustable temperature: 150°C-480°C
  • Fast heating: 6-8 seconds (Please be careful not to get burned)

Hah the image really confuses me with that one what the heck?

I would assume they are just lazy and just made one set of pictures/slides. None of the reviews mention anything about it being a US plug and the part number is UK-ST12A, so presumably the UK variant. It's dispatched by Amazon so uses their returns, so if it turns up and is the US model, it's an easy return.

Awesome thank you! Now I need to see if I can find a decently priced solder iron and get practicing!

A nice soldering station that was released recently is the GEEBOON TC22 245KIT on Aliexpress, combine that with some chisel tips 245-3.2D, 245-2.2D, 245-5D
would be a nice setup. Also on Aliexpress you can search for soldering practice kits to practice.

You are right! Thank you. Let's get learning to not burn my fingers!
Get yourself some good solder too. Vince uses this one (amongst others)…

Seems to say 3-7mths delivery, but I’m sure it’ll be less than that.

Sorry lads been away for a while and dealing with some family things but I'm back so I'll have a read back and catch up.

@Vince looking at getting my boy a 3ds to play while in queues at theme parks (smaller and more robust than a switch or his tablet)

The consoles are getting on a bit now, so just wondering if there is anything I should look out for or recommend a decent place to get it from? I've seen some jap imports that seem to be better condition than most UK ones, but will I run into issues running games?

I realise your post was old but I happen to have some very nice 3ds systems ATM. If you haven't got one yet I've had a very nice UK white 3ds XL just come in and before I had to leave the country I was building up a nice purple og 3ds that I just need to finish.

Doesn't show all capacitors being replaced, but just the clock capacitor, and there is also a link in the description to confirm the revision.
**Edit**
Link to the full capacitor info:

I probably wouldn't bother changing all it's caps i think I would just look towards the clock cap on the og Xbox otherwise I've never seen one with bad caps tbh. Only the clock cap seems to leak and ruin the board. I bet if you test esr etc on the rest of em they would be fine.

I have 3 official Xbox controllers suffering from drift, as well as a 3rd party one. I also have two Venom charging stations that no longer work... Any chance you'd be able to have a look at these for me please?

I've also got two DS4s that I no longer need (feel free to keep them). I don't think they have drift, but they may have charging issues (I genuinely don't remember).

I won't work on the 3rd party unless it's something expensive and worth working on but Xbox pads are an easy fix if you want them sorted. Depending on what controllers they are.. either Xbox one or series depends on what options / upgrades in terms of stick are available.

@Vince Hey pal, forgot to reach back out to you as I've got a lot of stuff going on this year but I was wondering if you'd be able to sort my elite series 2 pad out? It's been quite a while since I used it as it developed buttons needing a double press register. I believe it was the should buttons now. Any other improvements that could be done would be great, would be more than happy to pay for your time.

All good bud and still not a problem.
