Recommend air cooler to fit?

Hey guys,

I think I might run into a problem here, I will be building my new once the rest of the parts arrive today / tomorrow..

Now, my problem is the cooler for the CPU. The board I am getting is the Gigabyte B850 Aorus Elite WiFi 7..

As the NVMe drive is below the GPU PCIe slot, the GPU is close to the CPU and I’m not 100% sure the 120 Thermalright Peerless Assassin will fit with enough clearance?

So I was looking at a 92mm fan setup, can someone recommend me a good one to cool a 9800X3D?

Or if the P Assassin will fit that configuration?

Cheers.

I usually suggest the freezer 36 for more compact builds, but I don't think either of those coolers have any compatibility guides of the type Noctua provide.

Thanks, still might be a touch to big?

Ordered a Peerless Assassin 90 SE. £16 and I have another fan (same model from Thermalright) and should be here tomorrow as a backup in case the 120 variant doesn’t fit!

Why would the 120 be too big?
It's a pretty standard configuration.

I am just concerned with the PCIe slot being close to the CPU and having interference.

could be worthwhile getting second hand one so if doesn't fit just sell it off same price you paid for it

Thanks but the price I paid was peanuts anyway so will hold onto if there is an incompatibility.

Quick CPU question, to assist with cooling, does ECO mode set in the BIOS lose a lot of performance as it does (in my past experience) help a lot with thermals.

The gaming power use is pretty low anyway, though it'll depend on the games/settings/res and your graphics card. Heavily multithreaded stuff it would have a bigger performance impact.

Yeah, solely for gaming, looking at medium to high detail at 1440p. And the gpu is a 5070ti
