Borderlands 4 (2025)

Anyone playing on a similar rig to mine 7800X3D with a rtx 4070.
Wondering how it will perform at 1440P.
I dont mind DLSS + Framegem once its a smooth experience.

For all that I thought the writing had been sanded down a bit, I found a quest involving threshers last night that was as screwed up as anything in BL2. I approve!

I guess it's like they always teach in creative writing classes: when in doubt, go back to the bestiality well.
The writing is definitely still Borderlands, especially on some of the side quests, its just that the writing is BL2 (which is a positive) rather than BL3 (which would be a negative) :)

Never been a fan of Borderlands games, all I remember from them is the never ending weapon and item pickups and a cartoon style which I didn't particularly like.

So there's zero risk of me spending £60 to play this unoptimized mess. Developers need to stop using Unreal engine, visually this game has no business being that demanding on hardware.

Bought and installed BL4 today with a slight twist. I use Batocera Linux for my gaming PC. The important hardware stats are a Ryzen 5700 CPU and a 16Gb 6800XT GPU. I’ve completed the intro mission which was fun enough. Playing at 1440p with a lot of the graphic options at high or very high, the FPS was dipping down the low 40s at times. I’ll do a bit of fine tuning but don’t really expect the FPS to change much. Can’t say the graphic fidelity is much cop given the hardware requirements but the gameplay seems fun enough for me to see past that.

Oh well, looks like I'm going to have to wait for a driver update or a patch. Can't play for long before a crash.

Thought I'd narrowed the issue down to the upscaling method as I got a bit of time out of it with that disabled but I'm not back to the constant crashing.

Running on a 5090 for what it's worth.

You on the latest NV driver, and installed today's patch?

I saw that the HWUB video they totally left out 4K upscaled performance yet had it for lower resolutions, wonder why that was....

Played 18.5 hours and only 3 crashes, one of which deleted my entire skill tree!, but thankfully it came back after reloading.
Playing as Vex (lvl 22) with dead ringer/grim reaper/wither and corroding naturalist class mod, and scything through pretty much everything.
Getting around 150FPS maxed out with FG x 2.

I'm very similar.

BL2/BL4 very much equal at the moment,
BL1
BL3

Pre-Sequal being the runt of the litter as far as I'm concerned. Didnt click with this one, I found the overwhelming Aussy influence to be a bit grating.

Havnt played Wonderlands so cant speak for that.

I had similar issues with TPS, I also found the jetpack/jumping thing in zero-g got old really fast as a mechanic.

Positives so far in terms of it being on par with BL2, which I'm actually replaying at the moment. I still think I'll wait it out however, maybe grab it during its first sale when there's a few patches out, there's a chance I'll have upgraded the ol' GPU by then too.

Just to add to this, I turned on frame generation and now have solid smooth 60fps. Control does feel a smidgin laggy but that could just be me.
