*** The Official iPhone 17 thread (it has new camera bumps and everything!) ***

Anyone have any suggestions for screen protectors that feel as close as possible to a real screen? I've not touched one since I had my iPhone 5S to be honest, so can assume they feel a lot better these days, but not sure what to buy! It's all just full of marketing words :D
Apple Care +. Screen protectors are horrible things.

As much as I hate screen protectors and I’m careful with my iPhones I always manage to get a scratch somewhere on the screen :(
I've had my 15 PM for 2 years now, I have never used a case or a screen protector. I have one tiny scratch I can feel with my finger nail. If I wanted to I would just get it changed by Apple. I'd rather that than an ugly screen protector on it all that time. Yes there will be people shining bright LEDs at it and talking about minute surface scratches but come on, it's a phone not a Fabergé egg. Just look after it a bit better, don't put it in pockets with keys etc.

Ha! Knew the keys would get mentioned, I don’t have them in the same pocket, don’t use a screen protector but not everyone can afford additional funds for AppleCare+ is what I was trying to say, no drama :)

AC+ is less than a tenner a month. A decent screen protector is what, £20 or £30 which usually have to be replaced throughout ownership, cases are £30+ for anything decent and again need to be replaced. Then there's additional benefits with AC+ to consider. I daresay those who are wanting to protect their phones would have them added to home or other insurance, so just use AC+ instead? That's my way of thinking anyway.

I think cases and screen protectors ruin the look and feel of phones, and IIRC most of them are pretty bad for the environment. Cases (and screen protectors if not applied right) can trap debris/dust and actually cause more damage.

I get that there's use cases, such as those working in factories or other harsh environments but in all my years of running without a case/screen protector and being careful I wouldn't have it any other way.

Naked FTW. This is the way.

I think the silver Pro Max looks pretty terrible with that white slab on the back. It looks so out of place. In my opinion it is the worst of the three because of that alone but I think I’m in the minority as the availability of the silver models seemed to slip before the others.

Ideally I would’ve gone for blue but I’ve ordered a silver because it’s all that was available for Friday. It’ll have a case on and will be hidden anyway so no big deal I guess.
Silver easily the best colour this year-goes with all cases and looks clean as you like.

I’m a bit apprehensive on screen protectors this gen with the new antireflective screen.

I ordered the ESR armorite pro. Their marketing says it’s glass by Corning (same people who do Gorilla glass) so hoping it’s not too bad.

I’ve got Applecare plus since I live in London anyway but would rather avoid the hassle of paying an excess and dealing with repair technicians.

My nearest Apple store are a joke. They tried telling me screen burn in was software related and the only way to fix it was a complete wipe, restoring from backup would bring it back..

With AC+ just use express replacement, no need to visit a store. Also I've seen screen protectors do damage to the screen when they themselves have damage and have to be removed.

And screen protector with AC+. Get out! :D

Not comfortable with them putting a £1500 hold on your card with express replacement. Dodgy couriers around my area so will be a hassle getting it released if the package goes missing.

More recent screen protectors come with 2 film layers, one to remove dust/ debris before applying so shouldn’t damage the screen below.

I use'd a Flolab screen protector on my 15 PM and it was awesome, when I took it off I was worried it hadn't worked as it was cracked around the edges and I couldnt tell if it was the main glass, but after getting it off the screen was perfect. Will be getting another for the 17PM for sure as it went on flawlessly with the applicator it came with and you could barely tell there was one on there.

Apple are fine with that sort of thing, if anything does go wrong they one of the best companies to deal with.

My green TechWoven case arrived today, it’s definitely like the old Google Pixel cases in terms of grip and look. Hopefully it will fair better than those nasty FineWoven cases. The shade of green is also spot on, it almost matches the theme on the forums.

Happy with the quality? :)

Tempted with a Sienna coloured one for my silver pro max.

You're dealing with Apple and not some dodgy seller on eBay, it'll be fine.

Haven’t used a screen protector, ever iirc. Never had an issue if you don’t keep it in your pocket with keys or sand.
I want to be this person.
I’m happy caseless, but I throw it everywhere and know eventually it’ll scratch to where I SEE it every time I use it.

That said. I’ve gone orange, and bought a black case. Partly because I’ve gone non-max and not sure how it will feel in the hand, so something to grip might work better for me.

I'll never use a phone without a glass screen protector and a case. I'll like a case as it makes it more grippy. I do use AC+, but I'm not wasting Apple’s time when I can just replace a screen protector in less than a minute if I'm not happy with it, and I usually use just one for the year and even that stays in extremely good condition.

Never an issue with a case or screen protector damaging anything going as far back as the 3GS days. My phone after a year is always in mint condition. The only time I'll ditch screen protectors is if Apple somehow uses the sapphire glass that's on the watch. That stuff no matter what you do always stays looking flawless.

There is a view that potentially costs are driven up by people not being careful as they have Apple care. Although I guess the cost to build these phones are only a few quid so perhaps not.

Although irrespective Im gonna look after it as it’s an expensive item and you should look after your £&)-.
