*** The Official AirPods {all gens} (and AirPods Pro [all gens]) thread ***

The reviews have been a lot more positive than I expected!
Of course they are positive, they are pre-release reviews of an Apple product.

These outlets are very carefully curated by Apple and that comes with certain conditions, while you can criticise the company and the product, there is only so far you can go if you want to stay on that list (its pretty mild).

Any independent thoughts on sound quality for music? Never owned APs before and just worried people get so caught up in the functionality they may not actually be that great for a music fan.

AirPods Pro sound about as good as you can get for Bluetooth in ear headphones.

Are they as good as a set of high quality wired IEMs playing lossless audio? No but you also don’t have to deal with wired IEMs and there is a reason why Bluetooth is ultimately king.

When I ordered mine it said delivery today. Checked the Apple Store and it's now showing next Wednesday. First world problems etc.

Just went into CEX in town and handed over my Pro 2s and everything was perfect, they then said the brand new apple cable was not the correct one as it wasn't looped to fit in the bottom of the box so I got £96 instead of £114 so £18 less as they classed it as a "B" grade item due to a brand new Apple cable.... Meh!

At least my 3s are arriving Friday :)
Did you need the spare tips to trade them in?

I also dropped my pro 2’s off yesterday and collected £96. I chanced my old pro 16 silicon case and they still gave me £7 on a voucher despite the areas where the silicone peeled off. Up until that point I was planning to bin it!

Mine has been moved to October lol
Watch arriving today
APP3 arriving in a couple of weeks.

I’ve just set mine up. I’m very glad at the number of spare tips, had to drop down to XS to get a good fit.

Did you have everything it came with new? And was it classed as a B grade

Ok so not a great start. The left airpod makes a whistling sound when the mic is in use (noise cancellation, transparency). I'll put them in the case and maybe let them update.

I'm not an audiophile, but not indifferent to audio. I'll be comparing these to the APP2, B&W CM S2, DT880's, and B&W PX's over the day though. I kept a hold of the APP2 for now to compare.

First impressions:
Sound wise: music seemed fuller and more detailed. More bass as others have said and definitely brighter. I may need to EQ that down a bit. A lot of detail, a few things stood out to me in the background of music more than the APP2.

Noise cancelling:
Haven't really had a chance to test this yet

Transparency:
Big one for me for listening in the office or when the little one is about. Much improved in my opinion. I found APP2 very tinny and enhancing detail way too much. I honestly did take them out a few times to compare and am impressed. Typing on my keyboard is no longer distracting.

Physical:
The shape feels odd in the hand, it's more bulbous and it doesn't feel like it fits as closely to my ear than APP2. The XXS tips are welcome, I feel like they fit me a lot better.
The way they slot into the case makes them look like they're not flush, but I feel like I won't have the problem of one airpod not charging because the tip is pushing it up away from the contact points.

Just some initial thoughts, I'll comment more later - if this whistling sound is fixed.
