NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Seems the PS6 is going to be a bit of a monster, will this force Nvidia to rethink GPU pricing? Maybe they knew this already and that's why current GPU prices have remained so, milk PC gamers whilst they still can.

If the PS6 comes in at under £1k, then what is even the point in buying a PC GPU for even a bit above that and not getting console performance come 2027?

Doesn't sound very impressive.

What they're actually talking about is a roughly 3x increase in raw compute over the base PS5, with some slightly larger advances in raytracing scenarios thanks to FSR stuff. Most likely scenario... it'll match the 5070 on performance, launching around the same time as the 6000-series.

But I'd put money on Sony pushing path tracing as the big box-tick feature, despite the hardware not really being up to it, just as they did with RT and the PS5. Tried path tracing on a 5070?

1) It just doesn't sound like a next gen leap to me, 2 or 3x raw compute is very mild, that's worse than ps4 to ps4 pro. The AI stuff will be everything, they'll be doing 4x or more fake frame generation like Nvidia, that's where all the performance claims will come from, AI frames. They might have 6x or 8x frame generation by then

2) The leak says launch end of 2027, that will be closer to a 6000 Super Series launch, but yeah just few months between these products in all likelihood. If Nvidia wants to come in hot there is room to introduced a $799 or $899 6080 Super - not their preferred price but they may be willing to do it just to kill off some console sales, they did it before in 2020 with the 3080 launch

3) The leak comes from a notorious *********** who just makes up crap so it's hard to take too seriously. Go back to two years before the ps5 launch, like we are now and you'll see "leaks" talking about 14-16tflops and 32GB memory, and what we got was 10tflops and 16GB memory... enough said really

4) The leak says it will use rdna5 and zen6c - both of these will still be top of the line new products for AMD at the time the console launches - that is unlike Sony, the PS5 did not use the latest CPU and GPU products at its launch, which naturally saved on cost. If the PS6 wants to use the latest and greatest built on TSMC 2nm at launch the price of the console will be very high, like $1000, which is hard to believe because console gamers are budget focused and don't respond well to high priced hardware.

I know people who bought the PS5 Pro who said that price stung and if things get anymore expensive it's a 100% no go zone for them so Sony better price a lot lower.

Why would using tsmc 2nm mean a 1k cost vs a 3-4nm, you do realise the cost difference per chip between those process’ is probably $30-40?

And the real cost of materials and production for a 5090 is somewhere in the region of £600 yet Nvidia charge £2000.

If a company can charge exorbitant prices, They will.

You know that tech products don't just need to cover the cost of materials and production, right? They need to recover the cost of R&D as well.

With the PS5 Pro under-selling compared to the PS4 Pro, I suspect that makes its price-tag the upper bound for the PS6. Sony may even feel the need to go a bit cheaper (which would mean more hardware compromises), as their position is that the Pro consoles are for enthusiasts who will pay a bit more.

Given they're still struggling to shift players off their PS4s, with many AAA titles still getting cross-gen releases, I think the idea of a $1000 PS6 isn't going to stand up.

Nvidia made the cost of R&D on Blackwell back many times over within days of putting up their data center products for sale, They could've priced the 5090 at £999 and still made decent profit.

If the PS6 comes in at over $600 then I can see sales being terrible, $499 and it'll do well if it has a good launch line up and not "you can run older games slightly better" as a main feature.

Even if its sold at a loss they can recover the money from PS plus subs and the percentage on future game sales as the platform holder

Are Nvidia handling UK shipping themselves again now? Or still using the other UK company named similary to PRINT?

Unfortunately, NVidia are valued at $4.3tn. Whether we like their pricing pricing or not they are doing something right.

5080 FE in stock again.

5070 should do me, if I need more grunt I'll wait for the supers!
For anyone wondering, 5080 shows as 999 on listing page but 909 when you to checkout.

If I hadn't just got a 5070Ti I'd probably be getting that FE model of the 5080. Lovely design with the FE card.

I'm considering a 5080 to move on from my 3080 FE, is the FE the best of the bunch or is it worthwhile spending a bit more for another brand (quieter/cooler, etc)? I'll likely overclock to eek out a bit more performance - 10%+ I understand is possible. There's also the consideration of waiting for the Super version but I cannot imagine the performance gain will be all that huge even with more VRAM - then there's the issue of stock again!

I only use my PC for sim racing with iRacing (triple 1440p setup).
