/makes notesNo, they’re a bit stabby as well.
Good info here folks!

/makes notesNo, they’re a bit stabby as well.
There's a LOT of noise about immigration in general, with no differentiation between illegal and legal immigration. As a prime example, Farage's latest desire to get rid of ILR - which is the legal settlement route.Very few people are against immigration. But many people are now fedup with what seems to be uncontrolled immigration.
Having helped repair around 100 cycles for migrants and been to some of the HMOs in our area dropping off aid packages, as someone else has already pointed out, Charities and (even the companies running the HMOs) supply mobile phones on request.. (And many bring over their own phones)Just to pick up one one of your points.
Firstly, illegal boat migrants don't get given phones.
They get less than £10 a week if they are provided with food at their accommodation.
If they don't get food, they get less than £50 a week.
We can't exactly leave them to starve, otherwise they will turn to crime.
wtf lol@Sinbad2000 you come across as one of these Sovereign citizens tbh
No, they’re a bit stabby as well.
I agree there needs to be more separation between legal and illegal. However, many people are also fed up with excessive legal immigration. A quick ChatGPT check (not the most reliable of sources admittedly) shows between 8 to 10 million people immigrating into the UK in the last 10 years. That is arguably excessive and has a very big impact on the country. Not everything should be measured in pure financial terms. There's a LOT of noise about immigration in general, with no differentiation between illegal and legal immigration.
From fullfact.org, Based on ONS administrative data, annual net migration between 2012 and 2024 totalled an estimated 4.68 million.
I agree there needs to be more separation between legal and illegal. Perhaps we should take this to the immigration thread in Speakers Corner. I don't want to derail this thread on ID cards.
From fullfact.org, Based on ONS administrative data, annual net migration between 2012 and 2024 totalled an estimated 4.68 million.

The UK has not proven itself capable of providing the skills needed in the volumes required for the NHS and other key services. If not for immigration, those services would be even deader than they are already.
Good point, my apologies.Perhaps we should take this to the immigration thread in Speakers Corner. I don't want to derail this thread on ID cards.
Also European...This guy is both correct and incorrect. He is British
How so? Please enlighten me, because I really can't see it.@Sinbad2000 have you seen the movie Sovereign?
That's what you sound like.
What track are you wanting to get back on? The one the Tories have had it on for the previous 12 years?Completely disagree with this Digital ID crap.
First of all, It wont do a bloody thing to curb illegal immigration...how they even think this was a good valid "Excuse" to bring them on us is laughable.
Secondly, Hackers would have an absolute field day getting access to that sort of Data, Before you know it doctored clones of Digital ID cards will be made.
The UK is truly becoming North Korea at this point, Things like this shouldn't be able to just be passed through this quick without NUMEROUS Mp Debates (with a full house present! Not 90% empty like they usually do when it comes to serious debates) and votes from the people first.
Cannot wait for Starmer and his Gestapo party to be kicked out when the time comes so can get this country back on track.
If it's not even going to pretend to prevent the parasites leeching off of the NHS and the benefits system then **** it, I've changed my mind. They can shove it where the sun don't shine.Surely if this was actually about stopping illegal immigration, that would be an easy win? Stop free healthcare and benefits, then you remove at least one of the incentives of coming here?
OK, then continue with the current system that I've always had to undertake when joining a company:
1. Provide my NI number.
2. Provide a form of photo Id such as a passport.

Which returnee are you?Also European...
