I've been looking for a game to play recently and 1 of my friends pointed out this, Jump Spoace

Video for the trailer.

Steam page below

Its in early access and looks quite good.

For £16.75 I've gone ahead and bought the game but as per usual life has stopped me getting on but hoping to get on over the weekend.

Has anyone else played the game and got any thoughts on it?

I did look and could not see a thread on it.

i thin this was renamed and was jump ship

yep renamed :
&

it could be good fun with the right people

That would explain why I could not find it when doing a search earlier.
its only because i remember posting in that thread and the trailer was so similar i thought to check.

@StevieP are you by chance still playing?

i'd look forward to playing this with others if i could.
it looks very pick up and play with out to much penalty
for some reason i thought this was Roguelite

it also made me think of Void Crew not sure if people really played that recently, i know a few people have/had here

To be honest I only played it during the demo/free trial - although it was great fun so I might look at picking it up now its in full release!

One of my mates suggested we play this last night, so we had a good 3 hour session.

Early impressions are that it's pretty fun, graphically and performance wise it's pretty good, I like how the ship upgrades work, and as someone mentioned in the other thread, the gameplay when you're in combat is highly entertaining - we had some pretty chaotic dogfights with my mate flying while I was swapping between manning the gunner's seat and then jumping out to run around putting out fires, reloading ammo etc.

While obviously we're only a little way in, it would be nice if there was a bit more variation in enemies/weapons/environments, but obviously that's all stuff which can easily be added later, the core gameplay is definitely there.

Would also be nice to be given a bit more info on what is persistent between missions and not, on the first mission we stashed a load of stuff on the ship expecting to keep some of it, but of course it was all gone after! I guess it doesn't matter too much, but it took us a while to figure out how it works (maybe I just didn't pay attention in that part of the tutorial :p)

My only concern is the cosmetic shop - there's a very clear opening for micro transactions there, hopefully it doesn't go down the route of ignoring everything else to just focus on selling skins...

Did they fix the inverted flight controls yet?

Didn't notice any issues while we were playing, there are separate options to invert vertical & horizontal for both ship and on-foot controls

Yes, the options were bugged, there was a small fine aim area that reverted to non-inverted and made it very difficult to use.

Managed to jump one earlier today.

Done the prolounge and now done a few mission solo. Currently up to getting some artifacts (10 I think ) for someone in the hanger in return for something

Played this with my mate again the last few nights, starting to feel the lack of variation now.

We've had the same landing area/on foot map 4-5 times now - not sure how viable it is for these to be procedurally generated, but definitely needs to be more of them (and different biomes would be nice, even if it has no real effect on gameplay, give me some jungles, urban warfare etc.). So far we've had desolate rock, desolate ice, and desolate caves. Would be nice if the maps were a bit bigger too, and worth exploring. Currently the ship based areas seem to be a case of:
  • warp in
  • jump on scanner for 10 seconds to scan the 3 points of interest in the area
  • kill some easy ships
  • pick up the same loot
  • complete some on-foot objective
  • jump to the next sector
The on-foot parts being:
  • Land on asteroid/base
  • Push button to start event
  • Fight off waves of enemies while hitting buttons to continue event
  • Wait for big door to open
  • Enter jammer room, loot chests, disable jammer, back to ship
Or
  • Land on asteroid/base
  • Push button to start event
  • Wait for container to be highlighted
  • Open container
  • Pick up heavy item
  • Walk back to ship with heavy item
  • Repeat 3 times (all while fighting off waves of enemies, with a countdown until enemy reinforcements arrive)

There have been a couple of slightly different ones, but those have been unique story missions.

There's no real encouragement to explore, and a lot of the on-foot items seem to be a bit surplus to requirements - without longer missions, there's no real need to "stock up" as it were.

We've unlocked the 2nd new sector now, which does appear to have given us a couple of new mission types, so we'll see how those pan out.

It's also a lot more fun/chaotic with 4 people rather than 2 (noticed a couple of guys from work were also playing the other night, so we joined forces for a bit).

All in all, definitely enjoyable, but could do with a bit more content!
