Foundation - TV Series (2021)

The writing for this is so frustrating - you get your hopes up then you get served up with something incredibly nonsensical or lazy. I seem to find myself watching and praying that it tidies itself up as there are occasional moments where it’s good TV, then it all goes to pot again.

Apparently as Demerzel’s eyes flicker out as she gets death-rayed it says ‘Transferred’ in Morse Code’ - given her and Lee pace carry the show they’re unlikely to not be back for S4 in some capacity.

Im just hoping that they havent killed the show/shot themselves in the foot by removing possibly 3 of the only actors keeping the show afloat imho

Doubt it as I'm going to take a guess that the season refresh is intended to give a finale at this point. Plus the supposedly wiped out robots that were contacted at the end are still infinitely more interesting than the foundation elements despite having a minute or two of screen time.

Not convinced it'll be the end of all of "Empire" either, dusk/dark is a solid actor and while I was admittedly knackered while watching the latest episode did we actually see Dawn die with his bad legs? Depending on the timing we might have a very ancient and deluded dusk and Lee Pace back as day?

The finale was pretty watchable and some of the plot twists were good, but the big one was a total anticlimax really.

As I understand it the big plot twist of the Mule not really being the Mule deviated from the books, where it was Magnifico, which makes a LOT more sense than it being Bayta. I guess there's the possibility it's still Magnifico and he was controlling both, but then that means Gaal could override the real Mule's song, but then that's a real convoluted plot mess. I guess this is the nonsense you get into when you cop out with lame woo woo galactic mind control nonsense. I find Gaal's storyline very dull as a result, putting everyone to "sleep" as needed. Zzzzz.

I did enjoy the way the Dusk/Dark plot twist played out, that was handled well. Although why he was exploding all the clone pods with a remote control is anyone's guess. But the resulting gore fest was fabulously over the top.

I do hope they find a way to bring Demerzel and Day back (via Dawn ageing?) as they've carried the show in so many ways.

I've a feeling they've intentionally left the possibilities with the twist open, though with one of the pertinent points you mentioned it would be a convoluted mess but not impossible.

They have written themselves into a position to have a good reset, or they limp into oblivion if they execute on it wrong next season.

Personally I'm enjoying it overall despite some very varied quality across the show.

I think I'll rewatch the whole lot again but fast forward the annoying actors.
Especially S1 and 2.

I binged S1/S2 a couple of weeks ago, then watched S3.

Overall, it's fairly tolerable IMO.. I do skip a bit here and there with some of the more boring monologues etc, but I like the CGI and sense of scale.

The issue with the final episode is the resolution of Gale's situation was quite weak, although I enjoyed the cliff hanger.

7/10 for me.

Enjoyed the third season as much as the first two. Not so sure on the Mule twist, I don't think it makes a lot of sense, but will see what they do in season 4.

Just finished binge watching S3. Good, however I don't there's much to go (continuity wise) from the last two seasons - if they do an S4 then it's going to a brand new story arch so I'm not sure if they will.

Binged s3 over the weekend, glad I waited as with how some of the episodes ended was nice to get straight into the next one, some of the CG shots in this looked awesome. Brother 'Dude' was my favourite character this season and with how it ended and set things up for s4 looking forward to it, just hope they can start filming quicker than they did with s3 hold ups.

Already renewed for s4 :)
