Buyers regret or pointless purchases?

I’m very conscious with my money and I’m facing a problem now, not being able to decide between a Mac mini or a Windows desktop. Only because I want to play a childhood game again (counter strike) in my 40’s +, dumb..right ? My universe is Apple are there any websites where you can play online against a pay subscription or so, rather than me spending almost 1k either way for just a game ? I know you can install steam now on the m1 and upwards but what games are available?

Being completely on topic, worst acquisition ever was a PlayStation for which I’ve purchased 4 games from which 3 were never played and 1, I played only 30 minutes as I didn’t get along with the controller, resulting in me selling the PlayStation after 4 days. Lost 80£.

Other things that I need to work on is the fact that I’m getting easily bored by my cars and I’m changing them annually everytime at a loss. Biggest loss, was an Audi A3, lost 8 k as I’ve sold it after less than 1 year from acquisition. Best advice to give to others here is never to buy new.

I purchased a 4080 laptop in November 2023 then sold it at the start of this year with it only being powered on maybe 40 minutes in that whole time.
A change of job just after purchase meant I didn't really require a laptop any longer.

I bought one of the USB powered DVD writers about 10 years ago and apart from checking it worked i've never used it.

I couldn't use it now even if i wanted too as i've binned all my disks a few years back so it will probably just stay in the loft.
I'm the opposite I recently purchased full box set of friends but had nothing to play them on other than PS5 (thats in the living room so subject to wifes approval of use lol) ended up buying a usb dvd writer to rip them/ watch them elswhere

Sods law, if you sell it you'll need it again.

Various MM purchases, that have since sat in a box after testing they worked.
Mainly...
- skylake CPU/mobo/RAM that I only ever used to format a SATA SSD for my dad
- Fan controller that I've since got a new case that it won't fit in (still not built it)

That and about 5 years of humble choice, most of which I've never claimed, have probably close to 1k game keys I'll never bother to play and most of the good ones have been free on EGS/Prime since then :D
So no expensive mistakes.

Nothing too bad...from the MM at least - the bundle was only about £50

£700+ on games I won't play, however.... :D

edit: I actually do keep meaning to get around to buying an external DVD/BR drive to rip all my old media to my NAS

Which version of Counter Strike? Regardless, even the most recent version doesn't require much to run last that I checked.

I'm pretty sure there's no official MAC support for the latest versions either, not sure about the old school one.

You could probably pick up a second hand PC for £300-500 that would play CS2 with good frames, and the original would likely run well on an ex office PC for less than £200.

The other option would be to subscribe to GeForce Now which supports CS2, that said for a pretty sensitive shooter like Counter Strike you might run into latency problems that wouldn't make for a good time.

RGB keyboard. The RGB was amusing for fifteen minutes. It's ten years old though so not that bad.

Nokia tablet. Pointless and really slow.

I've bought a ton of stuff I've used intiatally then never touched again. Quest 3 500GB and ton of accessories it cost a fortune, Odin 2, Ayn cube, Retro I'd pocket 5 and grips, Racing wheel and pedals and frame, tons of guitars etc mostly I sell them on or give away it's only money it's never really bothered me it's just stuff.

A Steam Deck for me. I bought one used, played it about four times, and then sold it on. I got what I paid for it but I already have a Switch I don't play so I should have seen that one coming...
