Gold starI don't want to disappoint @Efour so here is the true version.
Dinosaurs are rounded up from the inner/under world and forced into industrial juicing machines to be be squashed, like ribena berries. The juice is then pumped up to the overworld to be separated in giant centrifuge, then sold at barely above cost to us, the grateful customers, for it is hard and dangerous work done for benefit of us all
people spear whales and then boil the fat so get oil or some such. From what and how is oil formed and how is it commercially produced/extracted?
Something I occasionally wonder about the process of fractional distillation.
Vaguely remembered lessons on the use of crude oil suggest to me that if you're creating anything out of oil, then even if you don't want them, things like petrol and diesel fuel will be a side product anyway. As you refine the oil, you end up with a set of different products, in largely predefined proportions.
So what happens when our proportional use of different fractional elements of oil change? Say we completely stopped using petrol, but still needed plastics, so were still refining crude oil?
No doubt the answer to this question is - it doesn't really work like that, it was a simplified description to allow school children to understand it. But hey.
I've read that three times, and I can't work out how it's relevant to my question, sorry. We are scrapping all our refinery capacity and buying refined products from other countries at great amounts of carbon released into the atmosphere as decreed by the great god millipede.
Distillation Miss is my second favourite Sylvester Stallone film.Distillation Miss?
