Imgur has blocked the UK

There’s an automated process running now which will convert any imgur links to attachments and insert them into the post bodies.

Providing people don’t ask for their imgur accounts to be purged, we won’t lose any pictures within posts.

It’ll take a while to run over every post on the forum.

I've just set up Slink on my server to try. Like the simplicity of it.

Just finished making an iOS shortcut the same I had for Imgur. Which uses the API to upload an image, get the url and copy it to the clipboard inside img tags. All with one button press. That’s my imgur replacement sorted.

Aye that S3ND site does appear to work, although a bit funny having all and sundry able to comment on it

s3md does work but yes I agree, not able to make photos private means a bunch of randoms will look at my photos and then leave weird comments and downvotes.

Ah so this is why nearly all the pics in the random image thread just show 'not available in your region'.

You would think people would use a different host instead.

This has pretty widespread repercussions due to how heavily it used for hotlinking images. What were the regulators expecting? A age check gate to load a hotlinked image?

What it ultimately boils down to is the site can't be bothered with country specific regulations. But at the end of the day the OSA seems to have been the final nail in the coffin.
It's got nothing to do with the OSA timing is a coincidence.

Great!

So eventually all of the images in the Fallout 4 benchmarking thread - most of which were imgur - should get sorted..

The fact that GreenShot and similar can upload screenshots directly to imgur made hosting images there extra easy. Plus I always though it was polite to not upload big files to the forum host themselves.

Pretty sure it was almost impossible to find any 18+ images on imgur anyhow - so the bad joke of the Online Safety Bill continues!

OSA has almost certainly had an influence on their approach even though it didn't start with that.

I'd say its THE reason tbh. They aren't the first site to do this and won't be the last. We could see Wikipedia blocking the UK soon as well.
