Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

The big AI profit so far has been those selling the hardware. It remains to be seen just how profitable it can become for other companies. The expectation is that it will be massively profitable hence huge valuations in stocks, only time will tell.
AI will be everywhere it's like going from mechanical to digital all over again and saying transistors, wires and circuits are just a fad that will never see mainstream use.

obviously not every company involved will survive and some of them will be all hype.

IDK how we can compare it to previous bubbles though when so many titans are involved that can just haemorrhage money because they have nothing else to do with it and governments are incentivising them to spend it.

the problem is if most of it ends up being more like a utility that barely makes any money, datacentres could very easily become something like that, yet everyone just assumes it's going to be some huge digital casino that prints.

Someone made an interesting ananogy the other day is it's a bit like infrastructure, as in laying rails and roads etc.
Huge investment and very expensive to lay the foundations, so to speak...
How it pans out though... Look at HS2 lol
That said these aren't 'boys club' friends and relatives of governments on the take... Tech titans like Google and nvidia et. al. Aren't in the business of smash and grab quick profits I guess.

The hype train got delayed for a day or 2 (dip). But it's well underway again.

Yes it'll be everywhere but maybe not in the current iteration. The Internet is everywhere, but the dot com bubble still popped and the AI one can too. Not that these two bubbles are directly comparable, many companies today are very profitable unlike the dot com boom.

Exactly.

In the dot com bubble they over estimated short term gains but massively underestimated long term gains.

With Ai, it would be interesting where we land . It might be similar IMO, the short term hype is unreal and most companies all in on AI are hemorrhaging money and most others are struggling with ROI, but i think ling term we have have seen a arge step increase in capabilities and massive investment in R&D, so in.the long run some more grounded improvements in capabilities are inevitable. The real success will come in 10 years but who will capitalize is anyone's guess. So maybe a small crash, hopefully smaller than 2001 , and a recovery without a sub-prime crash.

As long as you are diversified I don't see a big long term risk from the AI hype

Anyone looking at SMLR

Bitcoin treasury merging with ASST
with a bit of medical instruments
21>1 buyout

SMLR @ 31.36, ASST @2.63

Going to be dilution of ASST but seems priced at 1.5

If thinking of buying ASST anyway buy SMLR instead.

I suspect long term it will come good but you'll be holding that bag for quite some time!
Being open and honest - it was some buys I did a long time ago. It's fortunately not a lot of money. I've learnt my lesson, most of my funds sit in whole market trackers with monthly buys (boring but fairly safe)

Aye, most of my junk is in indexes but I have several k to play with / willing to lose. I lucked in with Intel, getting in a month or so back. I'm utterly clueless when it comes to picking individual stocks. Take the latest ALRT malarkey, I tried to get in yesterday but the buy order never clicked so I cancelled it. Glad i did!

Oh yeah look at alrt. Proper correction territory. Felt like a meme. Will probably take a while to find correct value with all the hype.

If you want to play with meme stocks, you either buy the first time you hear about it, or don't bother. If sit and wait until everyone's talking about it, you're gonna end up with the bags.

More green this morning. ARKG doing well, I was gonna put some more in last week, but am wary of buying anything right now. Sitting on good gains across the board that could soak up a pretty big correction and don't want to dilute that position.

New era and now dvlt have given me a financial and confidence boost , I really enjoy this but I just need to keep things , so I sold apld , coreweave, Nvidia Intel , new era too soon , made money ( and yes lost on other stuff ) but like some of you guys i need to buy and hold assuming I am confident about fundamentals and potential
Note to self really!

Think alrt just shows how meme able stocks are now.
The hype around this was insane. Not even sure where the hype came from.
