How's about that massively OP Type 11 miner ship? I mean they **** the bed after the pre-release comments from the early access contenters saying it was below average at best, and panicked they wouldn't sell any for ARX for the coincidental mining focused CG, so they have just thrown horrednous OP'ness at it. To be honest it just feels icky. At least there aren't any unique must have items in the CG this time.

Did yo buy one?

I got one even though the only mining I've ever enjoyed is core mining and I haven't done that in years when LTD and void opals were all the rage.

It is OP: 14 superior limpets from a class 5 is over the top, cruising at 230m/s with cargo scoop down is just silly. The MVG is a bit OP but honestly just about right for the new paradigm of ship design FDev have got going on now. Thankfully its a medium so cargo is limited and the overall efficiency is reduced by requiring more trips to sell/off load to FC/SC. Sounds good, engines have a nice rumble. I imagine they thought that to sell a specialist ship it needed to be OP

Not bought one no, I am way too tight for that. Plus as I say, what they done to this one make me feel slightly nauseous. I would not surprise me that they will eventually nerf it, maybe just after it goes on in game sale.

They wont nerf it, it might be an OP miner but thats only a small part of the game. There are better ways to earn Credits and only a few powers benefit from an OP miner for merit/CP generation. Plus they dont want to upset people who spend actual cash on buying game assets, quite the opposite they wont to encourage them.

I don't disagree with you in principle and have said as much on the official forum... however as far as P2W goes yes Elite has it..... but it's pretty small beans compared to other games.
And yes it is no coincidence that there are CGs to complement the shiny new paid for thing.... but credits are like confetti in elite now and even the CG with it's unicorn gear... it was available to the top 75%.
again out of principle I voiced my dislike of it on the forum however in only a few sessions in my in game bought type 9 I ended up well into the top 25%.
in the current one in my mining type 10 I have had 2 x 1 HR sessions and am currently just outside of the top 25% of that as well.

I am looking forward to buying a T11 to use as a complete package mining ship probably to fuel my fleet carrier, (yes I can buy tritium but from a role play perspective I like the idea of being self sufficient)

but I won't buy cash ships out of principle esp because they don't have any rebuy associated with them and you can fast travel them in anywhere.

I really need to get back into the game. Went all in earlier in the year, got a second account and then just ran our of steam with it. Grinding the eng mats for the second account was just too much.

Just picked up the Odyssey DLC for 1.49 euro in the Steam sale. Whole package is 2.50, which is a pretty good price.
I was playing through Epic so just installed the full version through Steam, and the good news is that I can link to the same Frontier account and get my character with the ships. I was worried I'd have to start again.

I have an alt account bought direct from Frontier that I would upgrade to Odyssey but they aren't offering the same discount on their own store.

I seem to remember they do have occasionally their own discount offers on frontier store, this 90% off on steam looks like first time ever though, would they match it on their store no idea.

When they have had these large discounts on Steam recently I have checked their own store and they never match the discount there. I can only assume that they prefer people to be on Steam. It is a shame as direct accounts are the easiest way to run alt accounts.
Although I haven't played much ED for a while now. The alt was just useful sometimes to try a different style of play or experiment so not a great loss and why I won't pay full price to upgrade it.

I want to start playing again having given it a break for a few weeks... unfortunately my PC died yesterday and my laptop isn't 'man' enough to run ED.

I'm now in the process of putting the components together for a long awaited new build... just waiting for the Prime sale this week to see if i can get any parts a bit cheaper  ... not holding my breath!!

*Edit* Turns out it was just the graphics card that's died... after removing it from the system it fired up again... now searching for a cheap replacement for my old school MSI Afterburner GTX980 just to get me by until my inheritance comes in and I can upgrade properly.
