Imgur has blocked the UK

Can someone summarise why and is this permanent, that it's blocked?
To avoid the hassle of uk laws - online safety act mandate.
Its easier to exclude uk than id check all imgur users which is a privacy violation and probably quite costly in such a short amount of time.

Hopefully reform will reverse such daft laws as people just find other sites which are often worse than the originsls being id checked/blocked.

Because Imgur don't want to jump through hoops to be compliant with the UK's newly implemented Online Safety Act (OSA). They see it as easier to just block UK IP ranges from accessing all together. That way they remain compliant and it gets it done much more easily and quickly, at the detriment to UK users of Imgur. But they don't really care since the UK are a small fish, and they have the rest of the world using their service still.

Ok that was that I was wondering if it was more. Any other companies following suit?

One can only hope Reform get nowhere near power.

It's such a shame the OSA is destroying the internet the way it is (at least if you're not masquerading with a non-UK IP), all because a lot of parents can't parent.

Agreed the batch upload would be a great feature, as well as some form of albums, both of which are open feature requests so hopefully something we'll see in future.

Fair :D I just checked again and it definitely converts it to jpg. Although interestingly, screenshots from my phone have uploaded as png.
I think there's something deeper wrong with my deployment so I'm hesitant to use it fully until I've solved the issue. I have written a python script (ChatGPT helped. A lot!) which uses session cookie and crawls a forum post, ie, a car build thread and it grabs all of the imgur images, downloads them, then uploads to Slink and gives me the [ IMG ] link. The idea is I can simply edit my posts then paste in the Slink links. The issue is I'm getting Cross-site POST form submissions are forbidden error message, even doing it directly on the host using curl so something with the API is not playing nicely. It might be the way I deployed the container, it might be nginx (although I've also tried directly to the container port), so it could also be affecting the iCloud shortcut too.
