XBOX Gamepass Ultimate conversion is back for £1

Yep - realistically I'd have liked to have spread the cost out over a few months, but I had the sinking feeling if I didn't do it now, by the time I came to finish up grabbing the codes, the cost may have risen substantially.

Monzo flex helps with this, can spread the cost over 3 months
Yeah exactly this. They can add to an existing subscription absolutely fine.
I got 4 and now a silver member so will save a few pennies on the next 4!

Well the Xbox was already starting to gather some dust and this has now pushed me into just selling the Series X and just using PC Game Pass along with my Switch 2 and Deck.

GPU was great at £15 but not at £23.

Guess I'm going back to just waiting till the keys go cheap on CDKeys/Loaded.

One advantage to all of this is I can finally stick to finishing one game before jumping to the next!

Pretty sure my sub run out in April/May, last time I bought anything that added to my sub was in 2022. Not played the Xbox for 6+ months.

The Xbox brand is dead. Shame, Sony can charge whatever they want for the PS6 because there will literally be no other alternative.

They have already tried that with the PS5 Pro, many have given Sony the finger. PS6 wont be any different.

I'm not sure on this. I think with the PS5 Pro they could release $100/£100, or so more expensive because the lack of a competitor's alternative console and it was seen as a 'prosumer' device. Likely mostly purchased by hardcore, existing PlayStation owners.

However the majority of their revenue is still PlayStation Network & Services which means that you still need a reasonable price to entry in order to make that massive profit from buying games on PSN. The rumours have suggestion the hardware and design is simplified with very aggressive power limits so I think they probably are trying to hit a mass-market price as much as they can. Unless they start making more money elsewhere on PC, or the new PS handheld changes strategy (i.e. if this thing takes off, or this is seen as a cheaper entry point) but this is all an unknown. However it is the introduction of a new hardware SKU for developers to support and introduce even more work for them.

So I think even with inflation and all the recent challenges PS6 could be released at less than the price of the Pro (albeit more expensive than a normal PS5). Again with no-disc drive which I think is pretty much a certainty at this point.

Just over £10 a month on Loaded now for a 6 month sub:

You are a person of class :)

Still working my way through Brotato DLC (100% the base game) but getting there. Vampire Survivors has almost two much content now, although I every so often enjoy ticking off the various levels for the different characters.

Yeah Brotato didn't grab me as much as Vampire Survivors but I've since returned to Vampire Survivors and it's overwhelming the amount of unlocks that are possible! Very addictive game, you can tell it has been made my someone who worked in the gambling industry.

You could probably get those games for less ( or at least damn close ) than a full year's subscription to GPU. Your money, though. If you're happy, who am I to say otherwise.

Maybe at the new price, but certainly not at my £75 for 3 years deal :D

No, but those days of heavy discounts are in the past now. For the cost of a full year of GPU ( £276 ) you can buy a lot of games, especially if you can wait a few months for sales.
Have they changed the conversion rate as well?

I've been doing the 2 x core pass codes at around £35-£40 a pop plus convert to ultimate code at about £7 so it's been costing around £87 a year which for me is still worth it, but only just.

If they've screwed the conversion rate up then it might not be worth it going forward

Yes, conversion rates are worse and the MS Rewards scheme has been nuked ( again ). I don't think it will be long until all these methods are gone entirely ... it's clear Microsoft have given up "growing" the user base and plan to milk them instead for every penny they can get.
