Huel know its true

I don't know what this has got to do with Huel?

Crappy 'protein' bars that just artificial slabs of crap full of god knows what.....yeah, they are not something you want to consume a lot of.

It made a good title. "You'll know it's true."

Other than that they were mentioned in the program.

Deep down, moderation is key. Why I take videos like Joe Wicks' demonising certain foods with a pinch of salt.

Watched it last night, confirmed what I already knew, that there are **** loads of additives in everything we eat. If you eat these additives daily, then long-term, they're going to have some effect. Same with any food, though.

I did buy a 'Killer' bar for the lols though. Don't know whether to keep it or munch it.

Some of the things like the sugar that has laxative effects isn't even a problem. You literally get it on prescription for that reason. But use it in moderation and it's a non issue.

I think I've had a protein bar most days for the past 3 years or so now since I started getting into the gym and turning my life around. Not as a meal replacement, but purely as a snack to aid my protein intake while the rest of my diet is made up of mostly whole foods.

Much healthier than I was 3 years ago, physically and mentally.

Yes, UPFs are bad, but completely cutting them out is an overexaggeration.

I think the issue isn’t about protein bars nor what’s in them, it’s more about people's lack of knowledge in what a healthy diet is.

10 minutes in and so far there's been lots of "possibly", "could be","may be" linked to cancer/heart disease/bum falling off and then of course aspartame being a class 2b carcinogenic (beef and being a hairdresser is a class 2a carcinogen just to add balance).

As expected there's little actual science or research being referenced it's just your standard shock doc.

Is this the Channel 4 doc?

It can be agreed that 99% of influencer videos can be taken with a pinch of salt which is why I was querying smiths video up the thread. It is people giving these guys credence when in reality they are about as knowledgeable as the general man in the street.

Proper food is what your grandparents ate and their parents etc. Basically a mix of meats, eggs, dairy, salads and vegetables. An omnivorous diet suitable to keep humans active?
Modern variations like pizza are on the same theme as are Asian foods. However Whey and high protein foods are more like animal food designed to bulk quickly before the abattoir. Little taste and no recreational value.

You seem to be giving more weight to Mr Wickes though who is just an influencer that managed to get on TV.

RTD useful when I'm having a bout of ulcers, but does make my stomach a bit funny, few times when I'm lazy out and about do pick one up instead of a meal deal now those have gone up.

No I am giving Van Tullekan weight as the scientist Joe Wicks was the presenter but with limited scientific knowledge.

Anyone who is serious about the gym (and therefore more likely to eat a protein bar than someone who isn't) is likely eating all that as well. And fruit.
