How much is your water bill?

I'm paying £62 a month (2 people in 3 bed terrace) to Thames Water. Because of this thread I logged in to check my account and can see I have £250 in credit, but they won't let me reduce my monthly DD. I guess I'll have to give them a call.
This behaviour has got to stop from these companies. Withholding our money so they can make bank.

That's not generally how water companies work. They don't issue you with monthly bills for the most part. So if you are on a monthly payment you keep adding to the bucket and it gets drained usually when they issue a bill at typically 6 months. Or you can just budget properly, wait for them to issue a bill and it just gets taken from your account by DD.

We pay £38 a month with Anglian water but that was reduced from 50 something as they offer a reduction if someone disabled lives in the house. (2 adults 2 children)

I steadfastly refused switching to a metered supply at my last property based on the fact that being metered never made my bills any cheaper.

Quite the contrary, in fact & I became just as neurotic about water wastage as I did about lights been left switched on. Which, probably, is the idea.

Ours has recently gone up £5pm to an average of £32pm with known additional usage. So around 20% increase.
Fortunately we're reasonably low users for our typical household.

We are paying nearly £70 a month and it is unmetered. Literally less than 5 years ago this was around the £35 a month which is insane.

We have never been metered but would this be cheaper in the long run? I am skeptical when they say it can be cheaper, at what cost? As now we aren’t exactly rigid with our water usage.

2 bed semi. Regularly use the bath and water the garden. But only 2 occupants.

We are on the watersure scheme for my son and pay £43 per month combined but in the past year we have reduced our consumption from just over 1300l per day to 860l.

The biggest drops match when we replaced our washing machine and, more recently, our dishwasher. The old ones were supposed to be efficient but the new higher eco ratings do appear to improve things.

Bit of a necro but I wonder if people have experienced price rises since their previous posts.

I got an email today about a price increase, I'm in the Thames Water area (groan), it's another company who do the water here but they have to match Thames Water prices. My DD will increase from £37 to £48 (approx 30% increase). :(

I will of course be going full Karen to complain about it, but for today I'll just complain on the internet, and share in the pain of fellow water users.
They've increased it again to £60 - that's a 62% increase this year. :(

ultimately our infrastructure needs to improve. Yes its bordering on criminal the amount of money which has been syphoned out over the years but unless someone has a TARDIS there is not much that can be done on that....... it is shocking how much my bill has gone up looking back over my last half dozen bills BUT so long as going forward that extra expense is spent on infrastructure personally I can live with it.

That said To say I am not confident that is where the money will go is an understatement!.

£19 per month metered with Anglian Water, live on my own in a 2 bedroom house.

It needs someone to grab the bull by the horns and plug all the financial leaks. A full audit of where every penny has gone, followed by complete shutdown of every single expense which isn't 100% required for the operation of the company. Sadly there are probably hundreds or even thousands of little pockets being filled by their corruption and by shutting all those taps, you're gonna be making a lot of enemies overnight and not many people have the balls to make that call.
