The Indoor Riding/ Zwift/ TrainerRoad etc. Thread

Doesn’t take long to get hooked back on Zwift. Got my Aethos’ first upgrade yesterday. Another 13km of climbing to go until level 5
Plus all the sweat points you need. I fully upgraded the SL8. Costs a fortune. Gained the kms to upgrade much faster than the cash. Ended up having to do a load of pace partner rides for hours on end to build them up. Might take you longer as I don’t think any PPs do climbs do they?
Raced it last night for the first time, I joined a team in the WRTL and did my first ever points based race. Great fun trying to get sprint points while keeping enough in the tank to go for stage win. 9th overall, 1.5 secs off the win. My poor race craft once again undoing me right at the end. Kept the burrito for the final sprint like a noob instead of getting the helmet like the 8 guys who passed me did.
Beat a lad who’s in my real world cycling group by almost 5 minutes. He’s constantly chirping about his stats and numbers, typical big mouth Aussie. I am so excited to see him this weekend I can barely sleep.

I would’ve thought getting the drops would be easier for the climbing bikes as you get a decent rate of drops when climbing. But yeah, no 2.5x bonus as you do with pace partners.

I was going to save up for the SL8 but it’s 1.4m drops and now I’m upgrading this. It may take me a fair while lol

63% increase! https://zwiftinsider.com/how-drops-work/

Just jump on the Alpe daily, smash the ride on button in the hope its reciprocated and watch the drops climb faster than you do!!

I swear I am a lot more generous with my ride ons than others! I use the app so it's already inconvenient but I'm always tapping myself to give people one whenever I go near them

I'll end a big ride with about 2-5 in return

Had a power cut for 3 hours. Couldn't work. Knew i should've bought the Tacx bike which doesn't need external power!

People have to earn kudos.

You don't get it for commuting 10 miles to work (unless the weather was appalling) or walking 1 mile down the road to the pub.

That's why I hide commutes, gym or walks. (unless a commute had a segment hunt on it of course!)

Since it's been getting darker earlier and whatnot instead of going outside I've been on Rouvy about an hour a day or so to get some exercise in.

How are you supposed to treat the workouts where you go from high watts to low watts without it thinking you've stopped? Ie. if there's a section which needs 150% FTP for say 30 seconds, and then only 100% or 50% there isn't any resistance left so it ends up pausing for a short time.

Not really a big deal, but I guess it's not meant to be doing this (or I need different gear ratios!)

I assume he means, it wants 450W for 30 seconds, then it drops to 140W and you're pushing so hard as it changes, it feels like you have no resistence and the W drop to 0. For me, on the Kickr bike on TrainerRoad, I know over the last second it drops down to the new Watts, so I gradually lower my cadence through that last second, so when it's wanting 140W, I can feel the resistence still. Same going in. I kick up the rpm in the second before the Watts shoot up.

I was having an issue like that on TR when I was using the pedals as the power source but the trainer as the controllable. Worked like a treat once I just set my trainer to do everything but still use pedals for cadence.

Really enjoying just hopping onto Zwift climb portals at the moment. If I do the rest of the ones scheduled for this month i should get my bike half way through the 3rd level. Think once I get it to 5 I'll then sign back up to trainer road as I wont be doing as many climbing routes.

Weirdly, having cancelled Zwift 5 or 6 months back, it's the climb portal I miss most... I'm not sure why I liked it so much?!

I'm surprised you miss is seeing as you're always off on your cycling holidays doing the real things :p

Going to try and do the Madone tomorrow. No doubt I'll be the slowest up there!

Huh?! Aren’t you in ERG mode? Just pedal and the resistance will change automatically.

I guess not as I'm having to change gears, I'll be honest never tinkered with any settings just started random workouts / rides in Rouvy and assumed that would take care of trainer settings for me

Didn't encounter any issues otherwise .. will try it again in a workout tomorrow, did a ride today instead of workout!

I was using RGT until that closed, I seem to have briefly setup MyWhoosh before I had a hiatus. Anyone else use mywhoosh?

Some days I feel like I should've just not bothered.

Woke up with a blocked nose and start of a cold. Thought maybe sweating it out would be a decent idea so I'd try Madone.

Started Madone, didn't feel amazing but knew I'd be able to get it done, even if slowly.

Got 20% into it... Computer gets a BSOD. Fantastic.

Started it again, and then about half the way up I dropped my chain and from that point onwards my gears keep shifting so whenever I got into a decent rhythm, it would jump and I'd be in a gear too high/low randomly.

Realised i've bent a link or two so I've just ordered a new chain for tomorrow. Should've just stayed in bed this morning!
