Motorsport Off Topic Thread

Was reading last night and it sounded like most teams can't get it to last the whole race, so another sound FIA decision mandating something that won't actually work properly...

I'm fairly sure the Minardi is owned locally to me. I don't know the guy personally but have seen it at local displays.

BBC have an article on Horner looking for a new home. Of the article, the only team mentioned that didn't seem to be shutting the door was Alpine.

Nice set of cars! On Horner though; until a deal is done no-one's going to admit anything about him being involved, investing or joining a team.
At the end of the day he's at least 6-9 months away from being able to re-join the grid anyway.

It's become a dictatorship FIA is a waste of space, the teams (F3, F2, F1 etc.) so tell them to eff off and just start there own versions of the committee.
 
Anyone been following the Mclaren and Palou battle?
Quite interesting to be fair and info coming out of it regarding Zak, Piastri and more is concerning.

It makes that Drive to Survive moment years ago when the reporter told Danny Ric "I told you not to trust Zak" hit even harder.

I've seen a bit of it but I've not been following it. It mostly seems that Palou was angry and broke contract without thinking it through and is now making dubious claims in court to justify his past behaviour. What is it that you're thinking of? What have I missed?

Not really, however can you clarify what you mean about info coming out of it regarding Zak, Piastri is concerning?

The Race posted a summary of the McLaren/Palou affair. Still looks to me like Palou comes out looking worst in this, essentially he signed a contract with McLaren that didn't give him a guaranteed F1 seat and then got mardy that he didn't get a guaranteed F1 seat and so broke contract. McLaren kept their options open, and took the chance to sign the best available F1 talent (Piastri) when Alpine screwed up. Isn't that what you'd expect of any F1 team?

I can't see Palou winning this, although I expect it'll end up being less than the headline $20m figure.

Having looked at it myself Palou's case seems to rest upon certain and alleged conversations he had with Zak without any real evidence.

Thanks for posting - that's my TV time this evening sorted. The Bathurst 1000 is usually pretty good but had missed it's that time of year.
