Just curious, as just happenned to me. Been asked to build a rig for a friend's son. Purchased a XFX mercury 9070xt rgb off amazon (I don't live in uk so buying from OCUK can get very pricey for delivery etc), and received a big box. Been sitting on the floor unopenned as have yet to buy the rest of the parts. Anyway, yesterday picked up the box and instantly a little concewrned as felt a little light, openned it and worried confirmed..the graphics card was in another white plastic package labelled correctly, but lets just say the box i expected had strunk...openning the package reveiled a Gainsworth 3060 box. OOOOphhhhh! Istant vision of Obi-one waving his hand saying 'this is the graphics card you've been looking for!', with me replying ' you're jedi mind tricks don't work on me'
Luckily, seems I wasn't the only one scammed as before I even managed to ring amazon, I got pinged a message saying I had just received a refund. i went online and looked up the seller, then his geedback...5 posts, all saying scammed with one guy saying he's received scrap metal. Anyway, all had received refunds and seller taken down.
I guess moral of the story is when buying, even though shop sais XFX, check who is fullfilling the order. I'm now a little wiser I guess...still haven't openned the 3060 box tbh. Just haven't had time to ring amazon yet to ask what they want me to do with the box, open it, return it or whatever
Just curious if anyone else bought anything recently and not received it (as opposed to thread about the 5090 where ebay buyer said a card delivered wasn't working-equally as frightning)

@junpit was scammed trying to sell a 5090, if that helps?
Threads shaping up to be thread of the year, story wise:

yeah, read that. I was looking for a thread to post my experience before posting a new thread, but that's the other side of the coin..he was selling , whereas I was buying from a supposedly 'shop'. First time that's happenned to me, don't know how common it is.
Great result that he got his card back in one piece, unmolested. i def feared the worst when the 'shop' claimed it dead.

Not true, he has lost money to post and receive it back - think how much that would have cost insured both ways for a 5090 and it's value, then add the stress it's caused him and having to take time off to have it arrive back to him/retest it etc...
I'd hardly say it was an easy week for him :(

That 'shop' definitely is owned by the buyer/it's their family/friend etc... Textbook dodgy isn't it!

Yeah a lot of these 'shops' aren't shops, and it's fake - I'd personally never buy anything of a high value off scamazon, or ebay - any real shop, will have a proper website that I can buy directly from, and sod trusting a random seller if going brand new - I'd rather pay a tiny bit more and get legitimate warranty, and know X supplier will honour it :)

Yeah, I wouldn't buy tech from Amazon, dodgy AF place to buy stuff from honestly. If it costs a bit more from OcUK, for example, then so be it. I'd rather buy from a real shop (and support them too!).

@chaparral bought an RTX 4090 off Amazon, but ended up getting Waitrose food inside the packaging. I believe he managed to get a refund though.

all well and done, but I'm looking at the lian li vector 100 or cosair 3500x case (would get the vector but no dust filters and dust everywhere here)..case costs £70, postage is over £100. adding a cpu/mobo and psu and my postagfe is £200. So you can't just say wear the cost..that's ridiculous

Key phrase in my reply was "a bit more". If it's £100+ for postage, then obviously it is not feasible to buy elsewhere. Simple as that.

In terms of your current situation, I linked a thread of someone who was in a similar situation with Amazon. Worth reading that thread and start the process of a refund.

 Missed the link...well, at least the thief shops upmarket and received waitrose honey:cry:...I'm tempted to open my 3060 box and see inside...he had the decency to send a 12gb version(or the box is anyway). It'll have to wait though..my son just pinged me and wants to play online(he's still back home in uk, just me working abroad)

I've ordered a Sapphire Nitro 9070 XT from the rain forest I am tempted to cancel it after seeing the 4090 post. Not showing as dispatched yet. Was going to cancel and order from ocuk. However if I try I will just get a message from said place telling me it's too late but I can send back for refund when I get it. That and if I order from here it's due Tuesday and that's no good as I'm at work and rain forest one due tomorrow. I'll video everything.

Well, openned the 3060 12gb box that I received instead of the 9070Xt, and there was a 1kg plastic dumbbell weight in the box...they'd thoughtfully cut the foam inside to make it circular so the weight would go it .

if it makes you feel better, I have a 100% refund from amazon, and 1st time it's happenned to me. I'm just more aware now and check who's actually sending the item, and check their rating now. I'm actually quite impressed amazon refunded me immediately no questions

Presumably those getting scammed on Amazon are buying stuff that shows "Seller" a 3rd party and not Amazon. It's dodgy 3rd parties that are the problem.

When it's "Seller" Amazon, it should be OK, right?

Yeah it's showing as supplied by A****n on my order, so fingers crossed. The only thing worryen me is I ordered it on the 7th and instructed them to deliver tomorrow Monday 13th because of work commitments. Just hoping that time delay hasn't gave anyone time to nobble it  but glad to hear there's been no bother with refunds.

And hopefully the driver won't be tempted too haha. I've had that before when a driver tried to do off with my expensive headphones after dropping off a few parcels and I noticed there was one missing.

I wouldn't even buy a new card from a third party seller unless the listing is by an authorized retailer. Your warranty is basically non-existent.
