how come motorbikes don't have fog lamps? Did they ever used to?
They do - here's one off an S1000R (in white of course)

My S1000RR had one almost the same as that but with the Motorsport stripes across it. Trouble is it'd bang against the front fairings when going round bends. I took it off in the end, but then we had a day with fog where visibility was reduced to 1.5 British Kilometres and I regretted it.

Depending on the bike you'll probably get away with 2 hex keys and 2 spanners. That's all I used to carry when I did big miles on my SV and I could pretty much strip it down and put it back together with 2 sizes of each.
Came in handy once or twice.

SV only has about four moving parts tho :D

Yep! My OEM KTM kit has everything* and takes up little space. It's nice to know it at least hasn't got things it doesn't need. Even if maybe it is missing one thing it did .

* Apart from a 6mm open ended spanner to bleed the clutch master!

Gonna go buy a new lid this weekend. Just popping this out there in case anyone's got any pointers.

Needs:

Full face
Pinlock
Loads of vents
Speaker indents
Tinted drop-down internal visor
To not look like a prat when I'm wearing it on my scooter

Obvs fit is most important, but a shortlist to take to Sportsbikeshop over the weekend would be a start!

Shortlist:

Thought about a flip up lid? I have this one:

I have that exact lid (in white/red).
A couple of others here have HJC carbon lids.

I love my current HJC. It ticks every box, but its just getting too old and knackered. Thought about replacing it with the same one, but that's boring. Gonna give this carbon one a shot.

I quite like the idea of flip ups, but not sure about the additional weight, will really feel it when I'm redlining my scooter at 85mph. Also just plain white would make me feel like I'm LARPing as a cop. Just need a polite vest :D

It's ok, but I much prefer an open face lid tbh. I only wear it when it's freezing.

The MT Thunder and the HJC F70 Carbon only have two shell sizes, with Medium to Large being the switchover from the small shell to the big one. Great if you're a size medium but you might get the human lollipop effect if you're a size large since that shell has to cover everything up to 2XL.

The HJC C91 has three shells, XS-S, M-L, and XL-2XL.

I've always had a soft spot for Nolan - The N80-8 ticks all your boxes, although again, only two shell sizes with the same crossover point.

Ah I have the older, 90S Carbon. I just weighed it. 1630g. Add 50g for the Cardo Edge unit itself, which I just installed. Much like the GS cliche, I always thought I'd avoid a flip front thing until I got this cheap at the start of the year, and now I doubt I'll go back. I did just check my old HJC RPHA 11 thing, and that's 1350g. Sheesh. Still. Muscles! Apparently the Shoei Neotec 3 is 1800g.

@Diddums I imagine for the best chance of avoiding looking like a prat, then avoiding race replicas or extremely fancy paint jobs might be best :). Also check what the next Deliveroo rider you see is wearing and avoid that brand. So Aldi. And maybe MT :P.
