Looking for a semi smart/semi fitness watch to get hopefully in black friday period sales.
I have a s24 ultra phone.

I think I'm going to get the garmin venu 3.

My gf has a 3s, she had a fit bit (tiny one) and didn't like it.

From price/performance and features set I think the garmin is probably best bet.

I need:
-swimming tracking/water proof (counting lengths is a chore)
-kayak/mountain bike tracking (assume this is a given)
-works with komoot (hiking directions, no need to hold phone)
-android compatible
-decent price.. It's just a damn watch

Nice to have
-long battery life
-nfc payments
-some way to track weights at gym? Not sure if this is possible.

I don't need:
-Competitive fitness
-running focused, I can't run

Any reason to get/not get this? Never owned a smartwatch.

I think i can disregard:
-apple watch (obviously)
-pixel (battery life)
-Samsung (battery life)

You'll always be fit because you spend all your time outside. Don't need a watch to confirm it. Waste of money.

Its mainly for the tracking of lengths in the pool. And for directions. So when I'm hiking I hold my phone to see where I need to go. And when swimming it really is a chore holding in my head the lengths. It means you can't "relax" properly.
Its not so much the fitness tracking I want it for.

What are you paying for it? There are 'better' and 'different' watches (for example the Venu 4 with the torch, ECG etc) but it really depends what you need and want to pay. I don't believe the Venu series have maps though (?..)

The Venu is the 'casual smart watch' option, the Forerunner the running focussed (but still does what you need) and the Fenix is the 'tough outdoor' option.
Personally I don't run but do lift, walk and row (indoor & out) and usually pick up 2nd hand Fenixs, currently on an Epix Gen 2 (under £300) which does more than I'd ever need.

Think venu 3 is 300 ish. I'm hoping to get it under 300.

The venu 4? I looked. It's about 100 more expensive for the torch. Yes. The torch would be amazing. But not 100 pounds amazing.

Komoot is an app and I know it works on garmin.

I will have a look and see if any fenix are that cheap. I assumed they weren't as they are so expensive. But if I remember they are massive. And my wrists are small!

Edit
Wow. Venu 4 is 150 more expensive than venu 3! That's ridiculous.

and the ECG you'll use once and never again!

Anything from a Fenix 7 up would probably do what you need, to be fair even the 6 Pro would be fine. The Forerunners are smaller/lighter/cheaper than the Fenix equivalents and you can just not use the extra running stuff. My wrists are by no means massive and the Epix Gen 2 47mm is fine.

If you want a nice(r) screen the Epix Gen 2 is just a Fenix 7 with an AMOLED screen instead of MIP (the Epix Pro is therefore also basically the Fenix 7 Pro)

I'd probably get an epix gen 2 pro you can get them for a good price, I've had the non pro and it's a brilliant watch. 8-10 days battery, good fitness tracking, good sleep etc tracking.. and pro is a step above it.

I can not find this watch anywhere near the price of the venu 3.

I agree it does look "better".

New the cheapest basic Epix Gen 2 Pro is £370. The non Pro should be much cheaper if you can find one new (unlikely)
2nd hand it depends on the model you want (Pro, Sapphire, Titanium versions etc) but under £300 for the Pro is easily do-able and the non Pro ~ £150. These things are pretty robust so I've never been concerned with buying pre owned. If you have time and patience you can wait for people to list the Titanium models but not realise it and swoop in :)

Venu 2 owner here. Came from a Samsung galaxy gear s2 classic.

Battery life is amazing. I got 2-3 days on old watch. This I charge about once a week.

I use almost none of its features other than heart rate and sleep monitor.
Most importantly I have a pip boy style face on it.

I think the only thing I miss is the ability to reply to texts.

Like you I wouldn't spend the extra for a 4.

Yeah I'm seriously considering this epix gen 2 pro sapphire now.

Seems to be better than the venu 3.

I just need to find somehow where I can order both and return the one I don't like. I'm concerned it looks a bit big for my girly wrists. As in height.

I’ve got girly wrists too, 6.5” and it’s alright, it’s a chunky watch but doesn’t look too big.
