Rather annoyingly i've just started to pick up some decent consistency and i'm now stuck heading back to the UK next week with work. Have justified staying in the nice local spa hotel instead of the usual closer Premier Inn because it's bizarely cheaper.

I'd love to convince myself i'll get in the gym but the reality is i'll do no such thing.

If you won't have access to a bike next week in UK, is it worth trying to find the local Halfords store and do a 6 hour ebike free trial?

I bought XXL size Castelli bib shorts and they're a bit tight vs Assos , I'm 185cm and 95kg so not massive but cycling gear sizing certainly makes me feel that way
Ditto, I had some Castelli bibs in my stash, brand new and they were less generous than I had imagined, and definitely compared to my etxeondo's and assos

Surely its nearly time to put this thread to bed for the next 6 months until its warm and dry enough to think about venturing outside.
Not if you are south of the equator. Im currently averaging 216km / week over the last 4 weeks with around 150km of that outdoors. Got a 160km ride planned for tomorrow. Cloudy and 19 degrees - as close to perfect as you can get

I've bought warmer clothes for the current weather and what's to come but have been indoor only so far on weekdays, did 60km on Sunday outdoors and it wasn't too bad here. Weekdays I only have time after 8 PM and it sucks going out when it's dark (and cold and rainy at the same time .. )

Cold? In Kuala Lumpur?

Any recommendations for a BB86/BB92 press fit BB for 30mm axle rotor cranks? :)
They look quite expensive - tending to see a BB86 easily available for shimano then swap the bearings to rotor ones? What's the frame?

Haha, I've been in thermal shorts & overshoes at least a month already!

Cold? In Kuala Lumpur?
He's in Germany I think, or was it Belgium?

Think that's the same as my old canyon Inflite and I just used the rotor offering. Not cheap but did the job.

I found cheaper L castelli (kiss pads) kinda ok as they would stretch well - similar in size to L in Rapha, Sportful etc... But when I went up their range for nicer pads (progretto), found the sizing harder, materials had less stretch. The L was too tight then the XL was too big. Sportul I've found better, their L a good all the way through their range as they stretch more, but also XL in their thermals (Norain Fiandre) still a good fit for me. Wider pads seem to stay in place without needing the fit as tight to do it as Castelli... I bought a bunch of them (4-5 pairs) in end of season sales for £45-60 when the Large had gone out of stock at £90

Hope they've got an exercise bike there of some kind! Can't expect a Wattbike or something special but at least something - you'll feel better for spinning your legs a few times if nothing else!

Don't be too worried about missing a week - you won't de-train. Just make a good point of doing a bit extra when you're home! So a mini recovery before a harder/longer session.

Haha decent shout, although sadly i'll be in the office a lot. So it's either very early/late i'd have available.
Where about's are you - assume you're seeing family/friends while you're over. Any of them got a bike you can borrow for a ride! :D

Does just list the BB71-41B which is Shimano talk for BB86 and their standard pressfit for hollowtech II... So made for 24mm cranks. I figured Hambini would have an option, but seems he really doesn't like the idea (good article on him why not)

But using his info, he talks about getting 6706 bearings to fit in the BB86 shell, with Shimano pressfit using delrin (or whatever it is) plastic cups they're really not made to change the bearings themselves, so you'll need to find a metal BB86 then fit some aftermarket bearings into it, lots of BB86 bb's out there designed to change bearings (Wheelsmfg/Cbear - to name some of the better regarded ones)

Yeah I saw that article after buying :(

I'm currently £350 deep into this now and wish I did my research before buying, live and learn eh.

Think I may just buy this set of arms off ebay for £200 which work with a 24mm axle and just suck up the loss of selling the others rather than have a problematic setup.

Can confirm, the Sierra Nevada is quite lumpy.

The initial plan had been three days of 70-80 miles and 6-7,000 ft of elevation. Group 1 managed this, Group 2 cut this down a little. For example, over Fri, Sat and Sun I did 190 miles and 15,000 ft. The weather was amazing, almost too warm starting at 18 and heading up to 25/26 in the afternoons. I would say it's not as pretty as some places you might go, and options for coffee and cake are a little few and far between, but the scale is impressive and I guess the weather is a safe bet most times of the year.

What was your aim for Rotor cranks and what have you bought? Sometimes can be easier to cut losses and start again - especially if bought new and can return things unused for full refund?

Going back to Shimano on that frame will be an easier option. Is the current BB in it BB71-41B and you just need cranks? Was your aim to go for PWM so went rotor for that, or other reasons?

Going back to 105 shimano cranks (get new so you have new rings (£150) and a Stages/4iiii crank arm (£200-300) is the easy and probably cheapest recommendation with that frame if you don't have anything else lying around (what did it come with?)... You might be able to find deals online or if friends/clubmates have things - obviously S/H is cheaper than new!

Many of the Shimano R8000 warrantied cranksets are non-series replacements, they're technically a 12s crankset with 11s rings fitted so think would be future proof for 12s rings & whatever comes next from Shimano...!? Only reason I'm mentioning is people might be flogging them off cheap as already replaced with new, then sent back old broken cranksets under the recall (I need to do this!).

Rotor aldhu 150mm cranks, I had 160 cranks on my road bike and went smaller for increased hip angle for a more aero position. Problem with returns is Rotor is based in Spain, paid £81 import fees for £250 worth of parts :( - so after a return, restock fee (I assume) and import fees back I have little benefit in returning and a lesson as to why there are rotor UK distributers for way higher prices for components.

I'm not sure what BB it has, but it has a campag crankset and cassette.

Anyway, someone may be buying the bike as it is later as its made me think this just isn't for me and I may just stick the rotors on my Argon and buy some clip on tri bars

Ouch with Rotor... Worth reaching out to them and see what they offer - or you could even try to contact a UK distributor and ask if there are different options with them.

But before you do you really need to find out what BB is in it before you can really discount it. It is really likely someone has changed the BB already when fitting the campag groupset to it. As it's a Giant it won't have come with Campag on it, highly likely it was a FSA crankset with a Shimano BB behind it, but info I'm seeing online say the Trinity Advanced Pro is the one which came with the Giant 'PowerPro' which only came on Shimano cranksets (usually R8000 which is Ultegra).

Campag obviously do lots of different groupsets and over a long period of time to fit on many framesets. Do you know specifically which one it is? Some of their axles are 24mm, 25mm and there is even 30mm mentioned ('Over Torque')...

Thanks for the help here, tried the UK retailer, they won't do anything in terms of a swap for other arms or authorise a return.

I'm looking into shipment costs to return to Spain, just not sure what the export/import fees will be so need to do a bit of research.

I sold the bike in the end, I got a good offer and made a decent amount on the bike so there is no love lost.. It was an old 2014 campag athrna 11 that had one of their funky square axel from what I found when I researched and 25mm in width.

I'm now looking at maybe just having my roadie and a redshift seatpost: https://www.sigmasports.com/item/Re...InArUGl_SORhdEqi9909L8XhTSLzaDBBoCG14QAvD_BwE

With some clip on tri bars, saves me a lot of cash and should get me 75-80% of a tri bike without the headache :D
