Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Looks like they are doing £27.99 a month for m500,(gig1 with volt) including netflix. Makes the offer of £36 they gave me look pretty bad.

Messaged them on whatsapp to see if they will give me this deal - Currently on day 7 of 30 day notice.

That's a good deal if you are already an o2 customer, gig1 for £27.99. But the issue is these price rises they are doing. (Increasing to
£31.99 a month from April 2026 bill. £35.99 a month from April 2027 bill.)

1 gig is now £29.99 PCM then - £33.99 from April 2026 bill and then £37.99 from April 2027 bill. (Excluding o2 volt).

Would depend on what deal you get with o2 as they have now introduced price rises every April.

It also appears all fibre providers are now doing this too and most mobile providers.

I'm also investigating options as my VM contract has now ended and rolling.

EDIT: Plus you get Netflix basic with VM with these new contracts so no need to pay your current Netflix bill. (Which is a bonus!).

I might bite the bullet and see if I can push for the 500m package and an upgrade to the latest router cos I'm still on hub 3.

There response to me asking for the £27.99 deal, it does not even say "new customers only" or anything like that on it.

"Thanks for waiting. I just find an exclusive deal for you in which you will get 1gig of upgraded broadband speed and Stream box and this will cost you just £48 and this contract will be for 24 months. Please confirm me if you want to go for it."

Love it when they exclusivly want to rip me off by charging me more than the current £27.99 ???

Wtf?

The Whatsapp number (077803 089684 ?) just tells me to go to the "My package" section on the website to review my services.
There it only offers me to renew @ £42.94 a month.
I've tried the chat and the agent can't offer anything better either.
Looks like retentions and cancellation will still be the way.

same for me, except it gives me an error when i click on deals and tells me to contact customer services.

I've been with Sky for quite a while but that £30 a month deal with netflix is mighty tempting

It's not really £30 when you will be getting £3.50 increase in April and another year later now being 24 months contract

Edit
Looking again it's now £4 increase not £3.50

Indeed. Always calculate the total value of the contract (including price rises over its life) to get a true sense of the cost.

It always ends up about £8 more expensive per month after the two increases. The key is to sign-up in March/April after the price rises have happened. This will minimise any pain from the increases as you can renegotiate a new contract as you effectively only get 1 price increase.

I had this down to a T with all my contracts, but moved house and screwed it all right up! :D

On the school run yesterday I saw some guys in a duct next to a green Virgin Media box, and they had a big roll of fibre (although the roll was almost empty). I asked them if they were rolling out FTTP for Virgin Media and they said yes.

Hopefully that’s good news! I’m sceptical though because there are no planning applications for any ISP on bidb.uk for this area.

There weren't any here either, yet it's in the ground now! Witnessing them laying it is as good as confirmation can get.

So cancelled and service has disconnected was on cable for around 20 years was on 250mb, had enough of the price and having to do the retention dance each time also reading soon the April price increase will be £4 from £3.50
Your previous post said they offered you 20% off after 2 weeks in to your 30days notice via email. Did they offer you a lower price after that?

You don't cos it will hit you the next year and year after cos VM are now only 24 month contracts. This just delays the price hike that all.

So if you sign up in May 2025 then there is a price rise April 2026 and then one in April 2027.

I didn't get any call but offered via SMS they offered 125mb £19, also via live chat they offered £24 for 250mb maybe I would have got better deal if I called retentions I just had enough of the chasing, at the moment I'm using 5G via talk mobile £16 per month rolling monthly getting 150-200mb I'm currently looking for an outdoor 5G router see if I can improve it further

Even after the price rise it’s still one of the cheapest gig deals.

Closest I can get in my village is £33.99 so £30 for 6 months then £34 with free basic Netflix is great. We can’t get community fibre here unfortunately
